They will be held Mar. 7,14 and 21 in the hospital's dining room. The three- session program is offered as a public service by the hospital. Mrs. Fran Scholpp, R.N., super­ visor of labor and delivery, said the program has been expanded from two to three sessions-each starting at 8 p.m.-to enable speakers to tell about the pre-natal care, labor and delivery. She also stated that nutritional in­ formation for expectant mothers will be discussed, important information to help in the well-being of both the mother and the new child. Both prospective parents are in­ vited to participate in all three sessions, as virtually all fathers-to-be join their wives in this instructional program. Hospital and medical staff members present the program, show the films and lead the discussion, as well as a tour of the maternity department and nursery. (To Help Each Other Smile) is a very casual, warm and friendly group for widows and widowers, meeting the third Monday of each month at 5:30 at some local restaurant for dinner together and then proceeding to the church for entertainment. Newcomers are always most welcome. ; McHenry Awjjs î̂ j Legion Auxiliary : UNlf 491 After advancement of the flags, singing the "Star Spangled Banner", and an invocation by Chaplain Betty Lou Smith, the February meeting was called to order by President Maria Guettler. There was no meeting in January. The charter was draped for recently departed members Celia Fox and Laura Weber. In their honor, donation was made to the Vetera) Craft Exchange, and their names be placed permanently on th) Memorial Honor Roll, on display at the exchange. Special appreciation was extended from President Guettler to those who donated canned goods and money for the Christmas baskets for needy families. Edie Rourke, junior auxiliary chairman, announced the junior members had made tray favors to be used at the Auxiliary Membership dinner, at their meeting in February. In the absence of Music chairman Dawn LaBuy, President Guettler led the members in singing "To The Auxiliary"; and "God Bless America" at the close of the meeting. Past President Parley chairman Dottie Messer, announced the unit's past presidents meeting will be held in March, with Reba Owen and Marie Howe as co-chairmen. Rehabilitation chairman Marie Howe announced that she and President Guettler presented Valentine gifts to 16 veterans who are residents of Royal Terrace nursing home in McHenry. This is just one way that the,auxiliary remembers the "Yanks Wbo Gave1'.' Delegates elected to the McHenry County Council of American Legion Auxiliary are Vickey Bottari and Evelyn Osmon. Alternates are Jody Sossong and Betty Lingenfelter. The 11th District Spring Convention will be held in St. Charles Mar. 6, with Dottie Messer, 11 District Constitution and Bylaws chairman attending. Birthday greetings were extended to Vickey Bottari, Betty Lou Smith, Sandi Schultz and Midge Scharf. Marie Howe and Betty Lou Smith were winners of special prizes. Harriet Mikosz was not present for the Attendance award. President Guettler announced the American Legion Sixty-Fourth Bir­ thday celebration will be held Mar. 26, at 6:30 p.m., at the Legion post home, with a potluck dinner. She also ex­ tends an invitation to family, friends and community members to attend this birthday celebration for McHenry American Legion Post 491. Refreshments were served at this meeting by Betty Lingenfelter and Katie Edstrom. Ercell Richardson will serve as chairman at the next meeting. Mar. 21. Points of discussion will include the advantages to mother, father and baby of prepared childbirth; mothers' thoughts on the father's role and the adjustment of siblings to the new baby. The purpose of the league is to offer mother to mother help with breast­ feeding. Mothers who wish to nurse their babies are given correct in­ formation and support. The league also has a lending library which is an excellent source of information on topics such as breastfeeding, child­ birth and nutrition. Nursing babies are always welcome. Senior Citizens Slate Meeting The next meeting of the Wonder Lake Senior Citizen club will be Monday, Mar. 7, at which time issues of importance will be discussed in regard to the future of the club. It is, therefore, important that all mem­ bers be in attendance as this is their club and its future depends on them. The Nominating committee will report on recommendations for the incoming officers for 1983 and 1984. Nominations will also be accepted from the floor. The election will take place at the annual meeting on Mar 21. The club is open to all senior citizens of Wonder L^ake. The ECC representative gave a report on the Valentine's Dinner Dance, which was held at a restaurant in Dundee. Mrs. Carol Ridlin was chosen Valentine Queen and the cultural program was presented by Mrs. Virginia Stasiak on "Practical Arts: A Woman's Best Friend". The second meeting of the month was held Feb. 17, at the home of Mrs. Carol Ridlin, co-hosted by Mrs. Barb Kellogg. Information on the up­ coming convention was read and plans are being made to attend this gala affair. Mrs. Etta McCarthy presented a program on "Practical Arts: For Fun or Money". Set Luncheon And Fashion Show The McHenry County Christian Women's club will "March Into Fashion" Wednesday, Mar. 9, from 12 to 2 p.m. This month's luncheon will include a fashion show by a women's apparel shop in McHenry, featuring ideas on how to change several basic outfits with accessories. "Marching Tunes" will be presented by Martye Lowery, a soprano from Crystal Lake. The inspirational speaker for the day will be Kathy Ivec of Joliet, who will talk about "Fashioning Our Lives". She is the mother of three children and a speaker for seminars and women's groups. The luncheon will be held at T.C. Spirits, 6305 Northwest Highway, Crystal Lake. Reservations may be made by calling Charlotte at 455-6642, before noon Monday, Mar. 7. A free nursery is available with a reser­ vation. For quick white sauces, blend one cup soft butter and one cup flour. Spread in ice cube tray, chill well and cut into 16 cubes. Store in plastic bag in freezer.
