SPORTS FANS DIDN'T Brought to you By Phil Oeffling Here's a basket ball oddity...Only on ce in the last 25 years has the team that had the scoring leader in the National Basketball Association also won the championship of the NBA..The only time it's happened in the last 25 years was the 1970-71 season when Kareem Abdul- Jabbar won the scoring title and his team won the NBA champion ship...You'd think having the scoring champ would help a team win the league title, but it hasn't worked out that way. Has any basketball team ever gone through an entire game and not scored a point?...It seams hard to believe, but there was once a shutout in college basketball when Dartmouth in 1900 beat Boston College, 44-0. What are the most games in a row any basketball team ever won?...The all-time record for any team in high school, college or pro ball was the amazing streak by Passaic (N.J.) High School.. .Between 1919 and 1925, they won...not just 100 straight or 150 straight- -but the unbelievable total of 159 consecutive games...No other team--in any organized sport--has ever come close to winning that many games in a row. I bet you didn't know...that now is the best time for home im provements. And now's the best time to see Keith Leathers or myself for an provement loan.
