Distr ic t 1 Planning For The Future (The McHenry Elementary School system seeks to communicate with parents and other residents of the school district in a variety of ways -- newsletters, report cards and con ferences, news releases, and school programs such as open house events With this column, the district begins a new effort to inform the public about their grade schools and to solicit in formation from them which could influence plans for the future). Over the next several weeks, the McHenry Plaindealer will carry a short informational article weekly and a questionnaire which the public is urged to complete and return. Responses will indicate how well the school system is keeping the public informed on the status of McHenry grade schools. That information will help school leaders focus better on future communications. Secondly, responses will help the school board in setting goals for the school system. The answers may be returned by mail, delivered in person, or given to any grade school student who will carry responses to the school office. Brief articles and questionnaires have been prepared on several sub jects: Curriculum, Pupils, Finance, Personnel, Educational Standards, etc. Each article will pertain to the previous issue's questions. Where there are exact answers to questions, they'll be included in the next article. Here are a few questions on District 15 pupils. 1 - During the last decade, has the total enrollment of McHenry Elementary school district: Increased quite a lot, remained about the same, or declined quite a lot? 2 - Do you think grade school students here generally get stan dardized test scores which are: 3 -- How do you feel about the discipline in McHenry elementary schools? Too strict, not strict enough, or about right? 4 -- Must every child attend kin dergarten when he-she is old < enough? yes, no. 5 -- In your opinion, should children be promoted from grade to grade only if they can pass annual examinations? yes, -no.
