PAGE 5 -PLAINDEALER - WEDNESDAY, APRIL 6,11 Brights, high-contrast shades create light-hearted makeup "Makeup for spring will be an exciting interplay of color, departing from the more monochromatic palettes of past seasons," says Glenn Roberts, creative training di rector for Elizabeth Arden. "Colors for the face mirror the influences of fashion, con trasting bright against bright and using high-impact colors to punctuate darks and neu trals," he says. Inspired by the whimsical feeling of spring itself, Eliz abeth Arden named its sea sonal makeup collection "Springfevers." Three high- contrast palettes for eyes, cheeks, lips and nails are ac companied by accent shades--pearly tints with a shimmering opalescent qual ity. The collection revolves around two families of pink and one exciting red palette. For lips, cheeks and nails, "Fantasy Fuchsias" pairs lively blued-pinks with seduc- tive gleaming magenta. "Breathtaking Pink" features a range of intensely feminine rose-pinks, and "Restless Red" includes China rose and shimmering silvered red. Adding an extra dimension of luminosity to any of these palettes are "Springfevers Ac cents." LipGloss, Salon For mula Nail Lacquer and Shim- merdust Highlighter are all presented in a shimmering "Opalescence" shade. "These are a terribly allur ing addition to spring and summer makeup," Glenn says. "Without diminishing the impact of other makeup color, they add a beautiful light-catching quality to any shade. Or, worn alone--espe cially with a tan--they create a beautifully seductive radiance." Spring colors create just as much impact as the intoxicat ing "Springfevers" pinks. Eye shadows are worn in lively, high-contrast combinations. "Fantasy Shadows," for in stance, combine sparkling magenta, silvery jade and a very soft pink. The "Breathless Shadows" trio is a distinctive array of velvety navy, iced cream true-blue and shimmering sil ver-gray And the "Restless Blue/Audacious Aqua" duo is an upbeat pairing of turquoise and teal. To line and give dramatic definition to the eyes, a Slen- derliner Creative Coloring Pencil in "Bluefever" is in cluded in the collection. To top off the entire fresh-as- tomorrow spring face, Glenn recommends a dusting of the magical Shimmerdust High lighter in light-catching "Opalescence." "Springtime, more than ever, is the time to give in to your happiest fantasies in fash ion and makeup, to give flight to your very own 'Spring fevers,' " he concludes. chine blouse with short sleeves edged in pleats i a linen jacquard skirt in a vibrant junftle print.
