Antique Organ In Full Circle The antique organ donated by the Miller family to St. John's church will be sold at auction Sunday, May 15, at the Johnsburg Community club. Miller related that the old pump organ was once actively used in old St. John's church. It is constructed of oak and was manufactured by the Beck- with Organ Co. of Chicago. It bears two insignia, one from the St. Louis International Exposition of 1904 and one from the Louisiana Purchase Exposition. After its use in the church, it was moved to St. John's school, where a calamity almost destroyed it. The school caught Are Feb. 13,1945. As the building was burning to the ground, a few brave people rescued the organ and it was taken to the John P. Schaefer farm for safekeeping by Louie Schmitt, who lived on the farm at that time. After a few years, Schmitt gave the organ to the Miller family, where it has been kept until now. When they heard of the auction being presented by the parishioners of St. John's, they decided to donate it back to St. John's. The Millers are also giving a toy, red fire engine with extension ladder (which dates back to the 30's), a hand- carved wooden duck decoy, a light blue, hand-blown glass wine jug, and a cobalt blue eagle liquor bottle. These items, plus many more valuable antiques, memorabilia, and collectables, donated by parishioners and friends of St. John's, will be auctioned off to those persons giving the final bids at the Johnsburg Community club starting at noon. The auction is only part of a gigantic garage. sale-auction jamboree weekend. Fifty garage sales are being held Saturday, May 14, in garages throughout the Johnsburg area. This exciting event is being sponsored by the St. John's Debt-Reduction com mittee under the direction of Tom and Darlene Huemann.
