Ashbaugh, director of general services, and Scott Seaborn, manager of education, the department for which Mrs. Hastings works as a secretary. * McHenry hospital (Northern Illinois Medical center) has named its second Employee-of-the-Month, and Jacqueline Hastings, secretary in the education department, was awarded the honor. Mrs. Hastings, a hospital employee for six-and-a-half years, received a silver pen and pencil set, dinner for two certificate, a paid day off, and a, certificate of appreciation. To be chosen an employee-of-the-month, a candidate must be nominated by a co worker, the manager of a different department, or by a division director other than the employee's own. A confidential committee then deter mines if the nominee meets the criteria established for receiving the award. ' Nearly 140,000 works of art were Outstanding Student Names Prints For School Display "Government and Art: The Federal Art Project of the Great Depression" is the title of a special display to open in Millikin university's Kirkland Fine Arts center lower gallery Monday, May 9. The 24 graphics [Mints in the display have been selected from items in Millikin's permanent collection by Kristi Salman, a senior art management major from McHenry. The exhibit is part of a project for the James Millikin Scholars program for outstanding students. In addition to making arrangements produced under the Federal Art project of the WPA between 1935 aorf 1943. At the close of the project, the works we're given to various universities and public institutions. Millikin received nearly 200 pieces as part of its permanent collection. Miss Salman is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Salman of 6907 Mason Hill, McHenry, and a 1979 graduate of McHenry high school. ^ Baby giraffes are about six feet tall when they are born. McHenry county 4-H youth recently participated in the annual public speaking contest. Selected tc • represent the county at the state fair were Derek England, Cary; Kristi Stoxen, Harvard and Debby Griggs; , McHenry. Debby spoke on "What A Val Really Is". First through third alternates to the state fair are Carole Schirmer and Dawn Cooke of Marengo and Tammy Nelson of McHenry. \ Other speakers included Doug Freund, Sean Darmody and William Nelson of McHenry. service on behalf of the hospital, contributed helpful suggestions, dedicated themselves to the goals and objectives of the hospital, worked to improve both personally and professionally, and always upheld the standards of McHenry hospital. Upon receiving the award, Mrs. Hastings said, "I'm very pleased and proud to have received such an honor. The other four members of the education department staff are wonderful to work with, and are very encouraging. I'm grateful for the support and cooperation I've always received from them. They make my job that much easier." Mrs. Hastings and her husband, Lyle, who is superintendent of schools for District 38, Ingleside, reside in McHenry.
