Gerstad planned a two-week wedding trip to West Palm Beach Shores, Fla. following their marriage Saturday, May 21. The couple exchanged promises of marriage before the Reverend Thomas Lowery during a 3 p.m. ceremony in the First United Methodist church, McHenry. Two large sprays of white gladioli, pink carnations and lavender daisy chrysanthemums adorned the altar, and tfhite bows graced the ends of the pews» Appropriate musical selections were; performed by soloist Craig Spengel, and organist Mrs. John Leighty. ' The bride is the former Alison Boyer Meyers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James N. Boyer, 1304 W. Old Bay road, McHenry. Mr. and Mrs. Donald L. Gerstad, 305 N^Dale, McHenry, are the parents of the bridegroom. The bride wore an organza gown, styled with a high neckline and elbow length, puffed sleeves. Chantilly lace enhanced the bodice and sleeves, and four rows of the same lace edged the hemline of the skirt and the cathedral train. Her tiered veil was secured to a cap,covered with reembroidered lace, lavished with scattered pearls. She carried a colonial bouquet of white roses and baby's breath. The bride was attended by her sisters, Marjorie L. Trzaskus of Richardson, Tex., as matron of honor; and [Lisa Boyer of McHenry, maid of honor. Bridesmaids were a friend of the [bride, Kristi Stanell and the grootn's sister, Jennifer Gerstad, both of McHenry. Attendants were-attired in orchid print chiffon creations, fashioned with a bl^uson bodice, spaghetti straps and a tiered skirt, over an orchid nylon taffjeta bodice and skirt. Their bouquets were of chrysanthemums and* daisies, in white and shades of lavender and purple. Tne bride's daughter, jillian Meters of McHenry, was the flower girl. She wore a dress of white chiffon and Chantilly lace, highlighted with a hoop skirt; embellished with three ruffles in the back and ruffles bor­ dering the lower edge, trimmed with orchid satin ribbons. She strew lavender and white flower petals down the aisle from a basket bedecked with lavender streamers. To complete the picture, her airy headpiece was of lavender with touches of white, accented with dainty lavender streamers. , Handling the duties of best man was the groom's brother, Roger Gerstad of Crystal Lake. Groomsmen were a brother of the groom, Del Gerstad of Streamwood, 111.; brothers of the bride, Jeffrey Boyer of Chicago and Terrence Boyer of McHenry.* Pat Becker and Mark Slonina, both of McHenry, served as ushers. The mother of the bride xchose a floor length dress designed with an ivory crepe bodice with lace overlay, gathered into a champagne crepe skirt. A sheer ivory jacket and champagne satin belt complemented the ensemble. Her corsage was an orchid. The groom's mother was gowned for the occasion in a long sheath, jade green dress of qiana, with a half panel draped skirt. A long sleeve jacket, open at the back, with a mandarin collar and a soft drape from left to right across the front, was added for the total look. A gardenia corsage was pinned to her purse. f A reception was held at Andre's Steak House, Richmond, 111. The new Mrs. Gerstad graduated from Johnsburg high school in 1979 and is employed by Follett Library Book Co., Crystal Lake. Her husband graduated from McHenry Community high school in 1979; attended college at the University of Wisconsin Stout in Menomonie, Wis.; and is employed by UPS in Crystal Lake. Fifteen hopeful young ladles, vying for the coveted title of Miss McHenry, watch attentively as Mrs. Sharon Nye demonstrates the correct way to apply makeup. This is one segment of the charm course offered to all the contestants in the competition. The girls have also been advised as to basic posture, walking and sitting, proper clothing and stage presence. Following a reception for 250 friends and relatives at the Johnsburg Community club, the newlyweds drove to Florida for a three-week honeymoon, and will return to make their home at 26122 Hill avenue, Wauconda. The bride graduated from Wauconda high school in 1977 and is employed as a nurse technician at McHenry hospital. Father Leo Bartel said the Mass and the girls who participated in the May Crowning were: Kathy Munson, Kami Herrmann, Mary Marulewski and Joanne Miller. Following the Mass, the girls and their mothers worked on Father's Day gifts. The lady Foresters held their meeting and everyone enjoyed the refreshments. America's Miss Charm Pageant MIKA JONES The America's Miss Charm National Scholarship pageant is pleased to announce that eight-year- old Mika Jones, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jones of McHenry, has been/selected to represent Northwest Illinois in the 1983 national finals to be held July 5-9 in Washington, D.C. She will be competing with other state representatives from all across the nation in the Little Miss Ideal division. Mika is a third-grade student at Edgebrook Elementary school; her hobbies and interests are swimming, dancing and modeling. She was chosen as Little Miss Peanut 1961-82; and her aim and goal in life is to be an actress. All the young ladies across the nation in the pageant will receive their official titles, crowns and trophies at the candlelight ceremony, where they will pledge themselves to give of their time and talents to their community and state. They will have the opportunity to visit nursing homes and hospitals, ride in parades and participate in community and state activities and will volunteer their time and talents to schools, civic and social organizations for their many charitable projects. They will also have the opportunity to visit Senators and House of Representatives while in Washington, D.C. America's Miss Charm National Scholarship pageant is a youth development program to promote leadership and the cultural arts in local and state communities throughout the United States.
