I've heard that there's such a thing as. artificial Mood . Does that mean we won't need blood donors anymore? A. No. There is such a thing as artificial blood - an oxygen transporter - which is being used in clinical trials at various medical centers.' It acts in the body as a medium for the transportation of oxygen, the same job that hemoglobin per forms in real blood. However, its effects last only about 72 hours and it lacks clotting factors and other properties of the real thing. So we still need blood donors -as much as we ever did.
