The future bride graduated from Clay high school in South Bend, Ind.; received a Bachelor's degree from St. Mary of the Woods college; and a Master's degree from Purdue university. She is a special education teacher in Orlando, Fla. Her fiance graduated from McHenry high school; received a Bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois university; and is an audio-design consultant in Winter Park, Fla. The couple reside in Altamonte Springs, Fla. and plan a July It, 1M3 wedding in St. Philip the Apostle church, Northfield, 111. Honeymoon In Florida Mr. and Mrt. Dennis Suchor will be 'at home' in Bloomsburg, Pa., following a honeymoon weekend at Chateau Louise in Dundee, 111. The bride is the former Denise Parenti, daughter of Mrs. Lois M. Parenti, 5019 W. Orchard drive, McCulldm Lake, and the late Donald Parenti. Ron and Irene Suchor, 4004 W. Lakeshore drive, McCullom Lake, are the parents of the bridegroom. The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Don Parenti, Jr. Father James Gaynor officiated at the 2 p.m. nuptials, Saturday, June 4, in the Church of St. Mary of the Assumption, McHenry, before an altar decorated with two baskets of pink and white daisies, chrysanthemums, gladioli and carnations. Readings offered by the bride's godfather, Allan McKim of McCullom Lake, included the first reading from the Book of Genesee; Responsorial Psalm; and the second reading from the Book of Corinthians. The bride wore a satin gown with an organza overlay on the skirt and train. The bodice was of Chantilly lace, enhanced with lace motifs, em­ bellished with seed pearls, and featured leg-o'-mutton sleeves. A lace ruffle accented the hemline of the skirt. A chapel length lace veil, secured to a crown of baby lilies, adorned her head. To complete the picture, she carried a white basket of all white silk flowers, including stefanotis, tea roses, Hawaiian flowers, mums, snap dragons and baby's breath. Serving her sister as maid of honor was Daureen Parenti of Chicago. Bridesmaids were Jamie White of McCullom Lake, Ramona Zmich of McHenry, and the groom's sister, Denise Suchor of McCullom Lake. The maid of honor was attired in a suede rose gown, styled with a sweetheart neckline and puffed sleeves. A gathered skirt was at­ tached to the waistline, and trimmed with a bow. The bridesmaids were identically attired to the maid of honor, but in daphne rose. They carried gaskets of silk flowers in­ cluding! Hawaiian flowers, roses, carnations, snap dragons and baby's breath, all in various shades of pink and rose. .The flower girl was the bride's seven-year-old niece, Joy Miller of, McCullom Lake. She wore a daphne rose dress designed with a scooped neckline, edged with ruffles; and puffed sleeves. The best man was John Metz of McHenry. Groomsmen were Craig Worldnger and Ray Ostrowski, both of McHenry and Matt Rittorno of Pistakee Highlands. The ring bearer was the bride's 10-year-old nephew Ryan Miller of McCullom Lake. Junior ushers were the groom's brother, Darrell Suchor and the bride's nephew, Shawn Miller. The groom wore a white tuxedo with tails and a boutonniere of pihk roses. The other male members of the bridal party were in silver grey tuxedos with pink carnation boutonnieres. The mother of the bride chose an emerald green, floor length dress with a fitted, sleeveless bodice designed with a V-neck; complemented with a long, matching green chiffon cape with fitted bodice and round neckline. The groom's mother selected a floor length, robin's egg blue dress, with accordian pleated bodice and sleeveless jacket, complete with matching picture hat. All silk flowers and baskets were made by a friend of the family, Sharon Hunt of Bartlett, 111. Two hundred guests toasted the newlyweds at a reception held at the Johnsburg Community club. The new Mrs. Suchor graduated from McHenry West campus in 1981. Her husband graduated from the same school in 1977 and is employed as a supervisor for Aquality Pool Products. VFW Aux. Installation & Awards The 5th District, Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars recently elected and installed officers for 1983- 84. June Savage, past 5th District President, installed Mary Ann An­ thony of Winthrop Harbor as president; Phyllis Marquardt of Carpentersville, senior vice- president; Sylvia Wilvert of Liber­ ty ville, junior vice-president; Rosemary McMurchie of Car­ pentersville, chaplain; Carol Buckta of Waukegan, conductress; Mary Kuemmel of McHenry, guard; and Ulian Nielsen of Carpentersville, three-year trustee. Awards were presented to auxiliaries for achievements Senior Walk-In Center 1982-83. Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4600 received a state of Illinois citation for having donated over $2 per member to the auxiliary Cancer Aid and Research program. Barbara Bryniarski is chairman for the local auxiliary. Ann Scarbrough, Frances Nells and Jean Behrens constructed a display which was entered in the Poppy contest and placed first in the category using over 250 poppies. The display will be entered in competition at the state of Illinois convention which will be held in Chicago. Hie publicity book, which was compiled by Gerry Kuck, Publicity chairman, was awarded first place in the fifth district competiti^nd ' pete with winners from other districts in the state. ANN LARKIN ' , . f OCTOBER WEDDING - An October, 1983 wedding is being planned by Ann Larkin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald L. Larkin of McHenry, and Frank Cuda, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cuda, also of McHenry. Both are graduates of McHenry high school. The bride elect graduated from Alverno college, Milwaukee, Wis. and is presently a third grade teacher at Valley View school in McHenry. The prospective bridegroom graduated from Michigan State university with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering and will graduate this year from Northwestern university, with an M.B.A. degree. Cetebrates 80th Birthday born in Spring Grove May 23, 1903. John R. Schmitt claimed her as his wife May 30,1923, and they farmed in Johnsburg about five years before moving to McHenry. Mrs. Schmitt has resided in McHenry for 55 years, and she was widowed in 1971. She is a member of the Christian Mothers and Catholic Order of Foresters. The couple had two sons, Merwyn (Gladys) Schmitt and Harold (Elaine) Schmitt; and two daughters, Mrs. (the late Victor) Dorothy Bassi and Mrs. Eugene (the late Lorraine) Frost, who passed away last August. A Mass will be celebrated in honor of the occasion at 5 o'clock June 18, in the Church of St. Mary of the Assumption,. McHenry. A dinner reception will follow, hosted by Mrs. Schmitt's children, in St. Patrick's church hall, with her brothers, sisters, 21 grandchildren and 28 great­ grandchildren in attendance. At tlje regular monthly meeting of the McHenry Business and Professional Women's club in May, newly dec ted officers were installed in an impressive ceremony presided over by the past district six director, Joanne Shukis. In keeping with the new name of Rainbow District IV, she presented each officer with a flower in one of the rainbow colors and then- described the duties of the position and asked for their acceptance. The officers for the year 1983-84 are G.G. Havens, president; Edna. Fanning, president elect; Betty Smith, vice-president, Cathy O'Leary, recording secretary; Evelyn Albright, treasurer; and Pat Cer­ vantes, corresponding secretary. Following dinner at a local restaurant, the business meeting was opened by Lynne Donarski, past president of the McHenry club. She introduced the new Rainbow District IV director, Charlotte Dunne, who gave a complete description of the emblem of the National Federation of BPW clubs. Cathy Nolan gave a brief report on the recent state convention, citing the awards received by various com­ mittees. Those who represented the McHenry club were Lynne Donarski, Cathyv Nolan, Adeline Pedersen, Yvonne Ryden, G.G. Havens and Betty Smith. Announcement was made of the national convention to be held in Columbus, Ohio in July; the in­ ternational convention which is slated to take {dace in the United States this year, in Washington, D.C., the first week in August; and the appointment again of Ms. Nolan and Ms. Donarski to the state legislation committee. The Foundations committee reported they had seven applications for the scholarship to go to a woman over 30, but two were disqualified because of age. After careful deliberation, they made the decision to award it to Libby Podpora, who has enrolled in adult education courses. Virginia Orr reminded the mem­ bers that they had voted in October to donate money for flowers and volunteers, to assist the City of McHenry Beautification committee in the care and upkeep of barrels located throughout the city. The flowers will be picked upat the city gargae June 18 and planted soon thereafter. Ms. Orr made a plea for help on this project. Anyone who could spare a little time during the summer months ahead is urged to notify Her as soon as possible. President Havens asked that all officers and committee chairmen attend the Northern Illinois Leadership Conference Sunday, June 26. Those who have not signed up are requested to make arrangements with her immeidately. A discussion of the club's par­ ticipation in a concession stand for Fiesta Days resulted in a decision to forego that means of raising funds for the club. Adeline Pedersen volunteered to arrange for an outing to a play in lieu of the regular monthly meeting in August. The final plans will be made at the June meeting. Ttie annual 'Day at the Races' has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 13, and the bus will leave from Riverside Hairstyling at 11 a.m. Paid reservations must be made im­ mediately to insure space on the bus, which has a capacity of 47. The next meeting will be hosted by the Scholarship committee at China Lite, Monday, June 27. SENIORS GO TO RACES The McHenry Senior Citizens club has scheduled an outing to Arlington Race Track July 14. The cost includes bus far£, admission to the track and lunch.
