TOP STUDENT Kelly Kay Beitz, of McHenry, was honored at an awards dinner for scholastic achievement held recently at the University of Iowa, Ames. Miss Beitz was in the top two per­ cent of the freshman class in the College of Sciences and Humanities. BUSINESS DEGREE Diane E. Ziemba of McHenry recently received a bachelor of business administration degree n Management and Marketing at Northwood Institute's 24th annual commencement ceremonies in Midland, Mich. 14. Miss Keisey earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. More than 800 students received undergraduate degrees and 49 students received graduate degrees during the ceremony. Forty-six graduated summa cum laude (with a 3.8 of above grade point average), 44 students graduated magna cum laude (a 3.6 or above grade point), and 75 students graduated cum laude (with a grade point average of 3.4 and above). Advanced Degree To Ms. Schmidt Cynthia Bolger Schmidt was among those receiving advanced degrees at the 102nd commencement of Marquette university in Milwaukee, Wis. Dr. Schmidt, who majored in history, was conferred upon the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. The McHenry native is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas F. Bolger and presently resides in Milwaukee with her husband, Daniel, She is a graduate of Marian Central Catholic high school in Woodstock and of Alverno college in Milwaukee. She was born Oct. 7, 1955. She was preceded in death by her father, paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather. Surviving are her stepfather Richard Fernaid and mother Patricia Fernaid of Newport Richey, Fla.; husband Randy L. Yearton, whom she married Feb. 7, 1976, in Cary. 111.; a son Randy, Jr. and a daughter Cindy, both at home. Mitchell, Jr., 52, of Sunnyside, died Tuesday, June 21, at home. He was born Nov. 27, 1930, in Georgia, the son of William and Emily (Reimer) Mitchell. The mayor of Sunnyside for the past two years, Mr. Mitchell was a member of the Moose Lodge of McHenry; R.S.E.S. of Chicago; and Pipe Fitters Union of Chicago Local 597. On Feb. 20,1951, in Dover, Ohio, he was married to his wife Donna, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, William J., Ill and Rikki, both of Sunnyside; and two daughters, Donna C. Keefer of Sunnyside and Karen E. Walker of McHenry; and nine grandchildren^ Others surviving are two brothers, Herman Mitchell of Palatine and James Mitchell of South Elgin; three sisters, Eleanor Evitts, Dolly Cox and Frieda Peters, all of Chicago; and his mother Emily DyRicky of Chicago. GLADYS LOEFFLER Gladys V. Loeffler, 75, of 37170 Stanton Point road, Ingleside, 111. died Tuesday, June 21, in Royal Terrace. She was born^dune 25, 1907, in 1 Massachusetts, to Carl and Caroline (Harbig) Christiansen. A resident of Ingleside the past 15 years, Mrs. Loeffler was a member of ' Mt. Hope United Methodist church, Pistakee Highlands; and Park Ridge Chapter of the Eastern Star the past 20 years. She was preceded in death by a son Paul H., Jr. in 1961; her parents, a , brother Carl and a sister Ester. Surviving are her husband Paul, H., Sr., of Royal Terrace, whom she . married April 26, 1926; three grand-, children; .three great-grandchildren; a sister Linnea Gould, of Royal Terrace; and daughter-in-law Baiv bara Loeffler of Arlington Heights. Raiford of McHenry, died Sunday, June 19, at McHenry hospital, as the result of an automobile ac­ cident at about ll p.m. that night, oh River road, just south of the McHenry Dam. He was 18 years old, born in Des Plaines, 111. July 6, 1964, the son of Allan V. and Prisilla A. (Eller) Raiford. Daniel lived in McHenry about lis years, having come from Hoffman Estates. He had been a pizza maker at the Fox Hole restaurant in McHenry ; was also employed at Baxter- Travenol, Round Lake; a 1982 graduate of McHenry East campus high school and currently was a computer science student at DeVry Institute of Technology, Lombard, 111. He was a member of the Northwest Council Rifle club. In addition to his parents, he is survived by three brothers, David, Shawn and Ronnie, all at home; maternal grandparents, Ray and Pansy Eller of McHenry; and paternal grandparents, Vernal and Marcella Raiford, also of McHenry Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, at the Peter M. Justen & Son funeral home, with Pastor Tom Roberson of the First Baptist church officiating, and burial in Elm Lawn cemetery, Elmhurst, III.
