Anyone interested in being certified to be a lifeguard should sign up for this American Red Cross program. Tne classes will be held at Knox park pool Monday through Friday. Bike Hike Youngsters are invited to spend the morning on the beautiful trails at nearby Moraine Hills State park. Younger children who cannot ride their bikes to the park are also welcome. Their bikes will be tran sported to the park by truck. These youngsters must report at Pearl street park for their transportation. The bike hike will be Friday, July 29, during Fiesta week. Registration will be at Pearl street park at 8 a.m. and depart at 8:30 a.m. They will be returning at Pearl street park at 1:30 p.m. Big Wheels Race Boys and girls ages 3 to 5 are en couraged to participate in the Big Wheels Race sponsored by the City of McHenry Department of Parks and Recreation. Entrants will use their Big Wheels style-plastic tricycle. An oval course will be set up and races will be according to age groups. The race will be in conjunction with Fiesta Days Monday, July 25. Genealogy Teacher Speaks To County Society July 14 jg| Betty Massman, charter member of MCGS, and also a teacher of genealogy in the area, will speak at the monthly meeting of the McHenry County Genealogy society. The group will meet Thursday, July 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the Grace Lutheran church fellowship hall on Washington street, Rt. 120 and Tryon street in Woodstock. Ms. Massman runs a genealogical book and supply store in the county. She also belongs to the Pennsylvania German Genealogical society, and is a charter member of Bucks County Pennsylvania Genealogical Society, w the National Genealogical society and a member of Signal Hill chapterc of the 6AR. Her presentation will include the proper way to do research in Penn sylvania. Early records available, history, libraries available for research, land records, church records, published Pennsylvania records, and courthouse records and how best to use them.
