Nicholas Walker of "Capitol." - Walker is close to Eileen Davidson of "The Young and the Restless." Guess who's playing her leading man on that soap? Brian Matthews. REAL NAME -- Ever heard of Robert Peter Williahis? Probably not. But if you know French you know William (singular) is Guillaume. So now you have a clue. The star of "Benson" says changing his name seemed to change the way people saw him. But he admits a mild regret about the change, saying, "If I had to do it over, I'd pick an African name -- as a mild protest." PLAY'S THE THING -- Rene Auberjonois, who plays Clayton Endicott III, the chief of staff on "Benson," is appearing at the Los Angeles Music Center as Richard III. He is wonderful.in the role. Also in the cast is Laurie Walters, who played Joan- nie on "Eight Is Enough." She plays one of the princes (that's right, princes) Rich'ard has sent to the Tower and then has murdered. Her performance also is wonderful. . Miss Walters is also in " A Month in the Country," which is running in repertory with "Richard III." In the Turgenev comedy, she plays a 17-year-old, in the throes of a first love. Michael Learned of "The Waltons" plays the lead and looks beautiful in her hoop-skirted gowns. ©1983 Compulog
