Tigers And A's To Play Rematch A rematch of a doubleheader with he Johnsburg Tigers and the lgonquin A's will take place Sunday t Johnsburg. The two teams played in early June nd split the two games. The A's won the first game 6-2 and the Tigers .won the second game 7-2. v The A's come into the doubleheader with the best record in the Northern Illinois Baseball League at 7-1. The Tigers are right behind with a 5-2 record. Should the Tigers sweep the series, they would move into the league lead by one game. The first game starts at noon on the Com­ munity Club diamond. Rathskellers Wins In Legion Park <• American Legion Rathskellars scored eight runs in the first two in­ nings and then hung on to win 9-8 over Sullivan Foods during Men's Legion Park 12 inch softball. Steve Garrelts went four-for-four and Frank Ficek hit a three run inside <the park homerun to lead Rathskellars. In other action, Rathskellers lost to Oak Park 15-6. Hoadrunners Fun Run i The Roadrunners will have a fun iiun at Pearl Street Park on July 10 at Ml a.m. The next meeting for the roadrunners will be on Monday, July 11 at 7:30 p.m. They will be meeting at City Hall. Little League MINORS Blue Jays 3 Falcons 2: Billy Kietza stoled third base and then scored the winning run on an overthrow at third base for the Blue Jays in the sixth inning. Steve Aleckson started for the Blue Jays, striking out five and allowing two hits during the first four innings. Tom Brefeld came in relief and picked up the win, striking out two. Blue Jays 7 Blue Birds 5: The Blue Jays destroyed a Blue Bird 5-2 third inning lead with five runs in the fourth inning. Tom Brefeld delivered a bases , loaded triple to bring home the win­ ning runs. Steve Alekson added a double to help power the Blue Jays in the game. Chris Ziebel doubled for the Blue Birds. Bobby Koczer raised his record to 6-1 with the win, striking out 10. Robins 8 Eagles 3: Ron Robinette and Mike Lazar combined for a three hitter and 14 strikeouts. Ryan Penoyer went three-for-three and Mark Sonnichsen went two-for-two. Penoyer added' a triple and Son­ nichsen doubled. Registration is now being taken at McHenry City Hall. Registration forms are available at the McHenry and Chamber of Commerce. Golf Instruction A golf instruction class for Adults is being sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department. This program is designed to teach the beginning golfer the fundamentals and rules of the game of golf. Proper use of different clubs and etiquette will be emphasized. This class will be held at Petersen Park on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for two weeks. The first class will begin on July 11 and run from 2:30 to 4 p.m. The fee includes green fees for nine holes. Participants must have their own clubs. Big Wheel Race Boys and Girls ages three to five can participate in the Big Wheels Race sponsored by the City of McHenry Department of Parks and Recreation. Entrant will use their Big Wheel style-plastic tricycle. An oval course will be set up and races will be ac­ cording to age groups. The race will be in conjunction with Fiesta Days on Monday, July 25. The race track will be at Pearl Street Park with the qualifying time at 6:30 p.m. Sign up at McHenry City Hall. Registration forms are also available at the McHenry Public Library and Chamber "of Commerce. The registration deadline date will be on Thursday, July 21. Tennis Tourney The fourth annual City of McHenry Tennis tournament wiil be held this year as a beginning activity of Fiesta Days. Competition is set up in age brackets for singles and doubles events. Matches will be played at Knox Park Tennis Courts for finals. Trophies will be awarded in all categories. 4 The tournament will begin on July 22 and 23. The entry deadline date was postponed to Friday, July 15 at noon. All preliminary matches must be played prior to July 22. Registrations are now being taken at McHenry City Hall. Ramona Gregorio homered for State Farm, while Melissa Greve tripled and Stacey Hudjera doubled. Knaack was the winning pitcher.
