MARENGO FEDERAL WANTS TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT ON REPEALING THE 10% WITHHOLDING LAW. Rather than sitting back and doing nothing, you spoke up and made it possible to repeal the law which would have allowed the federal government to withhold 10% of the interest you earn on your savings. Washington received your message loud and clear, and on August 5, 1983, President Reagan signed the withholding repeal measure. Rep. Norman D'Amours, a Mew Hampshire Democrat states, "Without the unceasing efforts of the CJ.S. League members and their customers this victory would not have been possible."
