Although he is not vet a year old, Adam has already had five operations for congenital heart defects, and faces many more hospitalizations and surgeries in ttie future. His father, Martin, is a native of Alden, and his mother, the former Sandra Froelich, was raised in the Woodstock-Wonder Lake area. Both Martin and Sandra attended school in Hebron. To complicate the problem of having a life-threatening health problem, the Straley family faces tremendous financial burdens due to the fact that most of Adam's medical care is not ^covered by insurance. The auction planners, a group of volunteers from Alden Methodist and St. John's Lutheran Church in Woodstock, know that they will not raise the many thousands of dollars needed for medical care, but when a family faces such tremendous costs, they know everything is a help. Bidding will be on a wide variety of items, including antiques, artwork, collectibles, household furnishings and appliances. Hie auction will also include a book sale and refreshments. All proceeds will to the Straley fund which has established at the Hebron State Bank. Volunteers are still busily seeking donations of items to be auctioned. Donors can do 9ome fall cleaning and benefit a good cause with things they no longer have room or use for. To make donations or get more information, call Barb at #48-2255, Alva at 338-2681, or Vernell at 943-6594.
