Paddock Street, Crystal Lake, with an open house at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28. The public is invited to visit the office and learn more about Defenders' activities. The Defenders, a volunteer, county-wide environmental organization with 400 members, actively promotes recycling, preservation of local natural areas, and othec conservation projects. Defenders also are involved in the current controversy over Waste Management, Inc.'s proposal to develop a landfill in Seneca Defenders volunteers and staff will be present to answer questions about ongoing projects. Ed Collins, naturalist at Pleasant .Valley Outdoor Center and pefenders Board member, will present a slide show at 8:30 p.m. about efforts to preserve the Huntley-Union- Marengo Prairie. Refreshments also will be served. . The HUM Prairie is located along the Chicago and Northwestern right-of-way between Huntley ana Marengo. The Defenders are negotiating with C&NW for a tease to manage the prairie. Management activities would include brush cutting and controlled burning. The Defenders' office is located on the first floor of Central Elementary School to the right of the main entrance off Paddock Street. Office hours are from 9 a.m. until noon, Monday through Friday. He has carried on, his ice and is now sharing it his son Arnie Boedecker, and other members of Troop 455 Dance Team. They are Brian Smith, Rudy Torres, Joey Bosnick, Dan Diperna , Shawn Bean, and Jim Thorson, and drummer, Rick Smith, also assistant scoutmaster of Troop 455. Boedecker has been working with this group since last October in preparation for appearances in different events such as the Saufen Und Spiel parade in Johnsburg, in which ce for dvic theyputona 455 fori their they took first organization.
