In keeping with the policies established by the American Lutheran Church, Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Congregation invited Erv Stavetelg to seiVe as parish coordinator, and the commissioning service to this position was performed by Pastor Roger W. Schneider during both wonhip services. Staveteig's major areas of responsibility to the congregation will include setting short-term goals with the various committees of the church, and assisting these committees with their programs. He will also accept the responsibility for coordinating the upkeep of the physical cnurch facility. In addition, he will visit in the homes of the membership on a regular basis and direct special projects undertaken by the congregation at various times in itshistory. . Staveteig has been a member of Shepherd of the Hills since 1968 and has served the parish as Sunday School teacher and superintendent, president, treasurer, stewardship director, and others./He is currently working with the North Chicago Conference of the Illinois District of the American Lutheran Church in counseling young and urban congregations in finances and overall objectives for growth. He has also served as a 4-H dub leader for 13years, on the McHenry County Sheriffs Posse for five years, on the McHenry County Youth Council for four years, and as director of the McHenry County 4-H Federation for one year. Roger and Lissette Eberman, 719 Monterry Terrace, McHenry, became parents of their second child and first son on Sept. 15. Alan Joseph was born at McHenry Hospital and weighed 8 lbs. 9 oz. He has a two- year-old sister Nadia. Maternal grandparents are Jose Luiz Vasquez Marin and Romelia Aquilar de Vasquez of Guatemala, Central America Elmer E. Eberman and Lucile Eberman of Antioch, EL are the paternal grandparents. McDOUGALL Faith Presbyterian Church, located at 2107 W. Lincoln Road, across from the outdoor movie theater, has begun an ambitious program for children and youth. TTie program includes programs for children, grades 1 through 12. The Youth Club for grades 1,2 and 3 meets Thursday afternoons at 3:45 at the church. The director is Anita Forbes and she is aided by Shirley Creager, Sandy Heffelfmeer and Joan Sytsma in leadership. Each Thursday, there will be crafts, snack, a learning time, a mini- Bible study and a time of singing. Youth Club for grades 4 through 6 meets at Hilltop School for recreation at 4 each Wednesday. The recreation is followed by Bible study, choir and a fellowship meal. Youth Club for grades 7 through 9, which includes a two- year confirmation program taught by Dr. Eric J. Snyder, meets at 5:15 at Hilltop School. At 5:15 recreation is held consisting of activities such as baseball, touch football, basketball, volley ball and soccer. Then, a fellowship meal is held, a choir program is held and the confirmation program. The Senior High group meets on Sundays and is for children in grades 9 through 12. The past programs have included canoe and camping retreats. Lnyone who has children interested in these programs is invited to call the cnurch office (385-5388) for more details. Visitors are always welcome at this youthful and growing church. There is a wide range of programs for singles and the entire family. The group will meet Tuesday evenings at 7:30 at the First United Methodist Church in McHenry. Registration prior to Oct. 7 is preferred so all participants can receive study books before the first session.
