Though attention centers on Holiday Hospitality Day, year-around fund-raising results from the Gift and Thrift Shop on Benton street, and the Memorial fund which is a good way to remember someone special in a thoughtful way. Right now, as the fields of corn turn brown and arrangements near for Holiday Hospitality Day, the hundreds of volunteers are ready for the thousands of visitors on October 5. Auxiliary members prepare a wealth of baked goods and sandwiches for the Bake Shop and Coffee Corner. Members seem to enjoy determining whose delicacy captures the fancy of the experienced shoppers! Other members will be selling handmade soap, the Auxiliary's cookbook (Hospitality Heritage), and field and garden miniatures created by Auxiliary member Helen Wright. Last November the Auxiliary board pledged an additional $25,000 to the building fund, then recently increased the amount to $50,000 to improve the Snack Bar and Gift Shop The goal is to have the project completed in early 1984. With more efficient use of space and new equipment, the Auxiliary will offer even better service to visitors and patients. The Auxiliary's record is that of willingness to serve in any area where members are needed. Volunteers make a difference. As the hospital grows, the Auxiliary continues to grow along with the challenges that face those who are determined to provide quality patient care in a person­ alized manner. The antique-filled home of Robert and Nancy Pope is one of four homes on the Holiday Hospitality Day Tour.
