NOVEMBER 2.1983 general News Take census on economic well-being Since Nov. 1, local representatives of the U.S. Bureau of the Census have been visiting selected households in the area to conduct the new Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP), Stanley D. Moore, director of the Bureau's Regional office in Chicago, has announced. The SIPP program is being conducted in response to the need for better information on the economic well-being of the U.S. population. Information collected will be used to determine how selected government programs are working, and help policy makers to consider what changes are needed to make programs more effective. Area households are among 18,000 nationwide taking part in the survey. Interviewers will gather information on jobs, earnings, participation in various government programs, and population characteristics. Summary data from the survey will be published periodically. Information supplied W, people taking part in the survey will bo kept confidential under provisions of Title 13 of the U.S. Code. The local Health department 1 - Maintains an inventory of all non-community water systems within its jurisdiction; 2 - Establishes and maintains a routine water sampling program in accordance with state laws and 3 - Conducts sanitary surveys, including wnrflipp of all public and non-community systems at D least once every two years; •• 4 - Ensures that all non- community water systems found to t>e unsafe due to location and-or construction deficiencies have such deficiencies corrected ; 5 - Maintains written records of activities required in 1 through 4 and nave these records available for review. when a well is to be drilled and makes inspections of new well construction to make sure that it conforms to the Illinois Water Well Construction Code. The department recommends that individuals have their water tested at least twice a year to make sure that their well docs not become contaminated and that they are drinking safe water.
