Iisenby, 204 Tom was Gail Beau, Genoa City, WI, taken to McHenry Hospital by the McHenry Area Rescue Squad following a three-car collision on Elm Street last Thursday. Ms. iisenby was stopped in traffic when her car was struck in the rear by an auto driven by Richard A. Houge, 312 Glenwood, McHenry. The Lisenby car was pushed into a vehicle driven by Irene Levato, 4117 Wilmot, McHenry. Houge was cited for driving too fast for conditions. Kirsten A. Duggen, 4913 E. Lake Shore Drive, Wonder Lake, was driving north on Crystal Lake Road when another vehicle forced her car off the road. The other driver did not stop and damage to the Duggen vehicle was estimated at more than $250. County police investigated an accident where an auto failed to negotiate a curve on northbound Aspen Road and struck an embankment. The accident occurred sometime between 10 p.m. Nov. 11 and 9:30 a.m. Nov. 12. The car was registered to Charles D. Boak, 4013 Hillcrest, McHenry, ana had been reported stolen at 10 p.m. Nov. 11. Bittig said information received from the coroner's office on Tuesday indicated the two victims apparently died from injuries sustained in the ac­ cident and not from smoke inhalation. Cook of Downers Grove, who is still listed in critical condition in the burn unit at St. Anthony Hospital, Rockford, where he was flown by helicopter from the crash scene. The officer testified that neither driver, Bernal or Cot­ trell, could explain how the fatal accident occurred. Bittig said he noticed an odor of alcohol on Bernal and cited him in the emergency room at Memorial Hospital, Woodstock, on a charge of driving under the influence. Bittig said blood taken from the defendant at the hospital ami tested by the state toxocol lab in Chicago, indicated to that Bernal was under the in­ fluence of liquor. Kasuba was reportedly caught stealing approximately $14 worth 01 items from the Jewel Food Store, McHenry. Ask increased prevention efforts at drug conference Lieutenant Governor George H. Ryan, speaking at a regional alcohol abuse treatment con­ ference, urged service providers and field representatives to maintain better communication with their state governments. "It is so important that the service providers and field representatives provide their governments with the latest in information, trends and research findings. The sub­ stance abuse prevention and treatment fields are constantly undergoing evolution. Decisions on public funding and public policy cannot be made in the dar^c ages," Ryan said during a panel discussion at the Department of Health atid Human Services Secretarial Initiative on Teenage-Alcohol Youth Treatment Conference. Ryan said he is aware of some of the difficulties of public- private partnerships in ad­ ministering service programs.
