Jehovah's Witnesses return from Wisconsin two day Bible study Jehovah's Witnesses from 10 area congregations returned this week from two full days of Bible study and encouragement at a specially arranged Circuit Assembly in Janesville, Wis. The 65 attending from the Woodstock Congregation included members of all ages and entire family groups. The peak attendance was 1.413. Circuit Assemblies of Jeh<ftran's Witnesses are arranged twice a year to stimulate appreciation of God's Word, assist those attending in building their teaching skills for ministerial activity and build unity as a Christian organization. A highlight of the program was the public baptism at 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning, Nov. 12. On this particular occasion 10 presented themselves for baptism. For Jehovah's Witnesses this signifies the dedication made by mature individuals who have determined to devote themselves to apply God's will first in their lives. Their baptism is a step taken after careful deliberation and a lengthy period of Bible study. Circuit Assembly baptism facilities included an interior pool, glass viewing area, and a closed-circuit television so all in attendance could observe the proceedings. G. May, circuit overseer and special traveling representative of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, Inc., commented on the general program material, centering on the theme, "Recommending Ourselves as God's Ministers". May remarked "The program showed how effective Christian ministers display the fruitage of God's spirit when confronted with various situations. This will encourage Jehovah's Witnesses to make the most of their personal ministry." D. Holman, district overseer in this midwest region, travels from one circuit assembly to another. At Janesville this year he spoke on the subject, "What Future Is There For You?" Commenting on a modern phenomenon he described as "futurelessness", he said, "An increasing number are living purposeless lives. Suicides are increasing. Some admittedly have no hope for the future. Youth especially are affected by the philosophy of futurelessness." Holman then continued by outlining the Bible's description of God's promises relating to the earth's future and the hope and assurance these promises contain. Holman continued, "God's original purpose for Adam was life forever on a paradise earth. We have confidence He will fulfill his promise to restore those lost paradise conditions for obedient mankind." Any in the community interested in further information are welcome to personnally study the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses free of charge. Regular meetings are also held at the local Kingdom Hall, 1320 Catapla Lane, Woodstock.
