Holiday brings memories Help offered to new moms Policy for printing wedding write-up As we gather t'gether t' thank th' Lord f r th' many blessin's we've' had, o'er ft' year, we think and pray fr those who've had big troubles, an' our boys in service, in far away places. Would that all could have a peaceful, happy Thanksgivin' bay. No matter how much happiness we have in our own lives, it's o'er-shadowed wi' sadness in other lives. We think o' those who've lost young men in th' service t' peace, an love, an' country. Grandma sez •••• Memories crowd our minds, as th* holidays hear, an' many o' us who've piled up a good many years, give thanks t' still be in our own homes, able t' maintain ourselves, an' not be a burden. We wonder how many more ivin' Days we'll share Wends. vu >' holidays past, this granny c'n almost smell th' turkey a roastin' in th' oven, an' then, again, memory takes me bade t' times when we thanked God fr a bowl o' vegetable soup on that special day. Then, th' memory brings back th' goodness o' friends, better fixed n we were, an' th' happy time they gave us. Back in th' years when th' economy was better balanced, e'en those wi' smaller incomes could afford th' beautiful can died fruits, th' citron, quarters an' candied, as we used t' say, an' th' half o' lemon peel n' oranges, too. Nowadays tn' good flavor seems gone, wi' th' way they package 'em, an' ye c'n bet yer bottom dollar, they hain't preserved by parkin' in sugar, in th' old-fashioi So it goes. changed, an' we, who wish th' younguns o' t'c know how it was. Yes, it took a bit o' doin', havin't' start from scratch wi' most ever'thin', but it was good. So much fr th' reminisdn', an' put th' mind on appreciation o' th' many blessin's we en)oy in this modern age. Me thinks th' 'd taste a mite better if >ve ruled this tired way.
