The district is in its fifteenth year of attending the Lyric production and has gained some of the finest seats available at the opera, which are in the center stage of the second balcony. Tickets remain available for the productions of Manon by Massenet, Nov. 28, and for the final production of the season, La Boheme by Puccini, Monday, Dec. 12. * The production of Manon is a detailed study of the destructive power of passion and the dual nature of Manon, poised bet ween her longing for elegance and luxury in pre-revolutionary France, and her equally com pelling love for the dashing des Grieux. Manon was already a world famous novel when Massenet and his librettist faith fully and brilliantly transformed it into an operatic masterpiece. The thrust and opulence of the vocal line is perfume set to music - sensuous, persuasive, unforgettable. Finally, capping the season is La Boheme. The fragile Mimi and her romantic poet-lover, Rodolfo, learn the ecstasy and agony of love midst Bohemian gaiety, set against the nostalgic panorama of Paris' Left Bans - as the melodies of love nascent, requited and renewed, pour forth in unrestrained torrents of soul-stirring Italian roman ticism which tug at the hardest heart and moisten the sternest eye. Limpid, yet powerful. La Boheme weaves its spell from the Act 1 merriment to the final tragedy of Act IV. This is the opera the whole world loves best. The Park District's Lyric Opera program travels from Crystal Lake to the front door of tht Lyric by Charter Coach lines. Departure time to attend the operas is 5:45 for the 7:30 .m. curtain call. Residents in cHenry can get on the bus at Worts Bus Company in McHenry at 5:15 p.m. The coach then travels to the Crystal Lake Main Beach for a 5:45 p.m. departure. All participants will be delivered back to their pick up points. Generally the returns back to Crystal about 11 p.m. Registration is in the district offices located at 300 Lake Shore Drive in Crystal Lake. Business hours run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday ana on Saturdays from 8 a.m. until nocm. Further information is available by contacting the district offices at 450-0680.
