IMS Ladies of the U.M.W. will meet in the home of Alice Peet Thursday, Dec. 8, at 12:30 p.m. This will be the Christmas meeting and those who have a secret pal may bring their gift at this time if they so wish, COOKIE EXCHANGE Would you like to get~ acquainted or better acquainted with some of your neighbors and at the same time take home an assortment of cookies for the holidays? Nancy Daurio is holding a kaffee-klatsch at her home Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 1 p.m., and she asks that each person attending bring one UnH of cookie to be exchanged for those brought by other in dividuals. Be sure to let Nancy know if you plan to attend, phone 653-9906, so die can work out the cookie exchange. The whole idea is to get to know your neighbors and at the same time get a little help on your holiday baking. If you have any questions about this good time together, give Nancy a call. BUSY THREE 4-H" Eleven members of the Busy Three 4-H Club met for the November business meeting. Three new members were welcomed into the club. Final plans were made for the Achievement program. A dinner will be held Sunday, Nov. 20, at 1 o'clock. Parents and friends are invited to this special awards program; 4-H projects will be on display. Members finished selecting their projects and filling out their enrollment cards. Rusty Croswell gave an in formative talk on "Raising Pygmy Goats." This will be one of Rusty's areas of study during the club year. Philip Wolff talked on kinds of dairy cattle. He explained differences in origin, size and color, as well as amount of milk and butterfat produced by the different breeds. Philip owns and shows four registered Jersey animals and one registered Holstein. All officers are planning to attend the County Officers Training meeting Nov. 21, at Northwood School, Woodstock. Everyone will meet at the leader's home at 6:30 and we will ride together. Keith Helm, Mandy Liebrum and Laurie Wolff are in charge of compiling the jokes collected by all the members. .They will place them in attractive scrapbooks and then take them to Royal Terrace for the patients to enjoy. There was discussion of establishing an adoptive grandparents program. The next faceting of the sewing group was set for Saturday, Nov. 26, at Tomlin- son's home. The Christmas meeting will be held Dec. 12 at Ringwood School. Tiffany Letezia Reporter VISIT NORTH Art and Katy Christopher, spent a few days last week with his folks in Marinette County, Wis. Coming home Friday, the highways were filled with vehicles carrying deer hunters north for the opening of gun season on Saturday. The folks were very glad they were heading south and not caught up in the traffic congestion. Doris Low 653-9262 Katy Christopher 385-8037 TEXAS VISITOR Mrs. Edith (Curly) Skidmore returned home Sunday, Nov. 20, after spending a month in Burleson, Tex. with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry (Betty) Williams and family. Nancy Bowman and Curly's brother-in-law Lyle Ehlert, went to Burleson with her Oct. 20 and came home Wednesday Oct. 26. The reason for this trip on the 20th was to attendHhe wedding of Betty and Jerry's son, James. James and Julie were married Oct. 22 and they are making their home in Arlington Tex. Betty was honored because her new daughter-in-law chose to wear Betty's wedding gown for her marriage. Betty and Jerry celebrated 'their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary Nov. 15, so Curly stayed to help with the festivities for friends and neigh bors in their honor. Their three sons, Charles, James and Robert, surprised the folks with an identical wedding cake to their original one. They had taken a picture to the person who made the twenty-fifth anniversary cake and s^e duplicated it. Curly was glad to get home but said that when she left Texas it was sunshiney and nice and was quite surprised to arrive in Chicago Sunday, Nov. 20, to a cold, windy gloomy day. She enjoyed her visit with her daughter and family very much, and she looks so nice and brown. She said that they had a lot of sunshine while she was there. EARLY HOLIDAY Tom Turkey arrived early at the Walt Low household this past week. On Sunday, Nov. 20, the Lows celebrated Thenksgiving early with a traditional turkey dinner and all the trimmings. Doria-^and Walt were very pleased to be able to share the day with Pam Kehoe and girls (Robin and Katie) of Elkhorn, Wis.; Sue and A1 Jette, Marcy, Donna and Joe of McHenry (Eddie being in Colorado); Patti and Dan Hanson and boys (Shane, Lee, Scott and Erik) of Ringwood; Ray and Cindy of Wonder Lake; and Tom and Sherry and little Nicholas of Johnsburg. Also, Doris' sister Marge Fernstrom and Gordon of McHenry and Doris and Marge's mother, Mabel Thomas were afternoon visitors, which made the day complete. Police investigate area theft The McHenry County Sheriff's police investigated the theft of a liner box, CB radio, cassette player, television and hubcaps from a truck belonging to Donnie Kelley, Edgewood Lane, McHenry. The truck was parked at 1801 W. Route 120. County police also took into custody four youths who were caught breaking windows on old autos on the property of Kenneth Chappel, 2221 S. River Road, McHenry. The matter was referred to authorities.
