This event is a fund raiser for the Learning Management programs of McHenry High School District 156, sponsored by the Parent Advisory Council for L.M.P. Everyone is invited and urged to come to the McHenry Moose Lodge this Sunday, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., where they can join Santa and his elves for a pancake and sausage breakfast. A nominal charge will be made for adults; children three to ten years old will pay a lesser price; and those three and under are free. The Annual Christmas Catered Dinner Party for the T.H.E.O.S. group is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 19 at 5:30 p.m., and will take place in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church, McHenry. There will be a $2 grab bag gift exchange and everyone is also to bring a wrapped package for the "grabby game." It can be a white elephant, funny item, toy or 'what-have-you' as it is just for fun. Reservations for the event 'can be made by contacting Lyda Radisch at 385-2754 before the Dec. 12 deadline. The group met recently at the Busy Bee Restaurant for its November get-together. After enjoying a delicious meal, they went to the First United Methodist Church. Annetta Burrell showed slides and told some of her experiences working with disturbed and mentally ill children at Chicago- Read Mental Health Center, and Henry Horner Center; ex plaining the educational and vocational training services provided. This was very in teresting and informative and all were glad she was able to present such a good program. T.H.E.O.S. (To Help Each Other Smile) is a casual, warm and friendly group for widows and widowers; meeting the third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at some local restaurant for dinner together; and then going to the First United Methodist Church for an evening of fun and fellowship. U.M.W. slates potluck luncheon The next general meeting of the United Methodist Women of the First United Methodist Church of McHenry will be held _, Dec. 15, at noon, in 'ellowship Hall, begimtnjf with a potluck luncheon. Ruth Circle will be the hostess; new officers will be installed; and a musical program will be featured. Guests are most welcome. The November meeting began at 7:30 p.m., with Nancy Hodges and Kathy Boehmer giving the meditations, "Worship Oneness In Christ," which was very interesting and in spirational. During the program, members sang "Blest Be The Tie That Binds" and "You Will Know We Are Christians By Our Love." (Youth Opportunites Unlimited), an organization to help problem boys in a homelike environment located in Woodstock. The Evening Circle served delicious refreshments during the 'break' and then the meeting resumed. Three recommendations from the U.M.W. Mission Team were read, discussed and approved, including making a donation of $50 as a contributing member to Y.O.U.: a $50 donation to Hospice; and the institution of "Secret Sisters" for U.M.W. members, to begin in January. La Leche League discusses Pick up orders St. Clara Court nutrition-weaning Dec. 14 Nutrition and Weaning is the topic for the McHenry-Fox Lake La Leche League meeting this month. The meeting will be held Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 7:30 p.m. La Leche League is a self-help group dedicated to promoting good mothering through breastfeeding. Some of the points of discussion will be the league's belief that breastmilk is the superior infant food and the increased awareness in good nutrition for the entire family. BIRTHS Delaying introducing solid food into the baby's diet will provide an interesting discussion, as well as baby-led weaning which is an important concept in child rearing. Available at the meetings is a lending library with many ex cellent books on such subjects as breastfeeding, chidbirth and nutrition.
