MONKEY OFF WARRIOR continued from page 20 stead of 6:30 p.m. The varsity game will start around 7:30. Now one can get home at a reasonable hour of the night. Another IHSA rule that is still not enforced is a coach must .remain sitting on the bench while the clock is running. If that were the case, the Grayslake coach would have been whistled an other dozen times. •• The Rassling Warriors are still on a roll. They finished third in the Lake Forest Invitational and the sophomores won their meet here Saturday. Tonight and tomorrow they will be at the. Harvard Invitational, which is always one of the better meets in this part of the state. A lot of good teams show up at Harvard and there is some first class competition in this event. Pat Wirtz'a Lady Warriors ran into a tall and talented Wauconda squad last Saturday and came away with a loss. The Warriors are short on height this year and are having difficulties rebounding with the bigger girls. •• In going down memory lane this week, my eyes caught a box score with a couple of familiar faces. Two old friends, Zeke Bacon who is basking in the sun in Arizona and probably playing golf every day (while we sit by the fireside) and Sib Whiting down on Center Street. The game was played back in 1925 and the Warriors defeated Plato Center in the first round of the district tournev. Bacon led the Warriors with 10 points, while Whiting had seven in the 38-10 victory. Thirty-eight points was a lot of points in those days. The Warriors only had three fouls in the ballgame. We hope these two friends can recall some of their glory days at McHenry High School. McHenry 38 Plato-Center 10 Overton 4-1-2 9, Bacon 5-0-010, Freund 3-2-0 8, J. Whiting 1-<H> 2, S. Mark is the son of Richard and June Peterson. Besides the point scoring, Peterson has been averaging eight rebounds in the first five games of the season. The combination of the rebounding statistic and the point scoring out of Peterson has coach Ken Ludwig smiling. Before the season even started, Ludwig said one of the keys was the play of his two returning starters in Peterson and Corey Scott. Both play the post positions. Peterson has a number of goals on his mind, team and personal. "I would like to make all-conference and lead the conference in scoring. Maybe earn a scholarship to a school," he said. "I would like the team to win conference and win our regional and hopefully go far-* ther." Right now, Peterson has Woodstock on his mind. The Warriors take on the Blue Streaks tonight at Woodstock. Peterson says "If we can stop them (Woodstock) from scoring and just out-play them," the Warriors will come home winners. Peterson does have plans to attend college, but he has no idea where at this time. * NIKE SALE RACK! •Shorts •T-Shirts •Jerseys •Sweatshirts (crew neck or hooded) NOW THRU DEC. 24th ALL NIKE SHOES 15% O OFF VIVI-COLOR •color!
