Volunteers packed Saturday and Sunday donations of food, clothing, toys, etc., that were delivered Sunday afternoon, Dec. 12, to 160 families in the area. The helpers included West Campus High School students and teachers, St. John's sixth grade CCD and local 4-H. This is the biggest season for the FISH program as more families are in need of help. Donations can still be made by calling FISH, 385-0258 or sending money to P.O. Box 282, McHenry. tk. | Priceless gifts Give wild proso millet one break and it can spread like an epidemic. Before you know it, this wild grass has your crop in a stranglehold that the most powerful combine can't break. The right way to stop this men ace is to get it early, before it can get a start in your field. And there's no better way to stop it than AMBEN' chloramben herbi cide in a PPI tankmix with Treflan: If your infestations are especially heavy, treat with a second application of AMBEN after soybeans emerge and up to the second trifoliate -- but before weed seedlings are up and competing. There are so many people we would like to give to, but with spiraling costs it seems impossible to give as we'd like. The gift of friend ship means far more than "things." There's the lonely person who would love to have, even a visit. An elderly couple who "just don't drive much these days" might really enjoy being invited to go on a shopping trip. Perhaps a mother with small children would be forever thankful for someone to say, "How would you like to go shopping and let me take care of the little ones for this evening?" A loaf of homemade bread or a batch of Christmas cookies could be so thoughtful. For a special Christmas, why not look around us, put on our thinking cap6 and see what all we can do to make a merrier season fpr JVtfellow travelers! 8 8 -8 8 8 I 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 8 $3 oft * P I I I I I • I • I I I I I I l • I l • • l I I I' • • l I l • l • l • I II WITH COUPON II New!
