FRANK BERGSAAA Celebrate fifty years Frank Bergsma of Genoa City and the former Bertha Miller of Richmond were married in St. Joseph's Church, Richmond, Jan. 10, 1934. Sunday, Jan. 8, 1984, they will celebrate these 50 years with a Mass of Thanksgiving at St. Joseph's, at 11:30 a.m., followed im­ mediately by an Open House hosted by the couple's children in the church hall until 5 p.m. The family asks those who can come to share the joy of this day to bring with them the treasured gift of memories or experiences shared with Frank and Bertha included in their card; and that no other gifts be sent or brought. The Bergsmas have six children: Francis of Long Beach, Mrs. Jack (Beverly) Schmitt of Spring Grove, Ken (Muriel) of McHenry, Ron (Barb) of Richmond, Mrs. Jack (Kathy) Lindblom of Columbus, IN and Dennis of Indianapolis, IN; and 12 grandchildren. According to Helen Parnaby, director of Social Services for the McHenry County senior Citizens Council, low cost meals will be served for senior citizens and their guests Jan. 2 from 3 to 5 p.m. at a Crystal Lake restaurant. While the meal is primarily for seniors, it is for their guests also - someone who might require a driver or have a friend visting at the time. Cost of the meal will include part of the cost for the 'nod and all tips to the fiuzens >r I-800- 1 limply waiters and waitresses. Friendship Club members meet for potluck luncheon The December meeting of the Friendship Club of the First United Methodist Church of McHenry began with a potluck luncheon at 12:30 p.m., in the Fellowship Hall. In the absence of President Bertha Stange, Vice-president Herbert Rose called the meeting to order with words of welcome and a 'thank you' to the ladies for a very delicious meal. Three cards were signed for absent members. "Happy Birth­ day" and "Happy Anniversary" were , sung to members celebrating these events in December, with Helen Creamer at the piano. Many beautifully wrapped birthday gifts were brought for residents of Valley-Hi Nursing Home, and will be delivered to the home by Bertha and Elmer Stange. Helen Creamer played a number of Christmas carols for the members to sing, ending with "How Great Thou Are." The next Friendship Club Luncheon and meeting will be Saturday, Jan. 14 (weather permitting) at 12:30 p.m., when the hosts and hostesses will include Vivian Bassett, Esther Sims, Mae Stinespriflg, Mar- jorie Ricker, and Shirley and John Hosie. The Meat Committee will consist of Bertha and Elmer Stange, Margaret Andersen, Bernice and Don Corby, Eileen and John Godtfredsen, Gladys and Lawrence Temple, and Betty Fairchild. Members of the congregation 50 years old or older who do not belong to Friendship Club are invited and urged to come out and participate in the good times enjoyed by Friendship Club members.
