The trip is scheduled to take off at 8 a.m. from City Hall on Friday, Feb. 24. You must sign up at City Hall in advance in-order to reserve a seat on the bus. The bus will return at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. City ice skating rinks open Ice skating rinks at Peterson Park and Lakeland Park East Beach are open, The ice skating ponds can be used from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., skating at your own riAk. You can enter Peterson Park from the McCullom Lake Road entrance and park on the east side of the railroad tracks. For the Lakeland Park East Beach you can take Meadow Lane and turn east on Shore Drive. Sledding, tobogganing open The sledding and tobagganing area at Knox Park is now open to the public. The sledding hill has a vertical drop of 65 feet and the length of the run is over 650 feet. This area is lighted for night use. Lights will be on until 10 p.m. Parking for this sledding area is located off the Green Street entrance to the park. The facility is open to area residents. Soccer program offered by parks M soccer program is again being offered by the City of McHenry Department of Parks and Recreation this winter at Parkland Junior High School. The program will be Mid on Saturday mornings starting Jan. 14 running six weeks. There are different times for each age group so call the department for further information at 344-3300. Registration is now being taken at City Hall. Biddy Basketball offered again Biddy Basketball program, sponsored by the McHenry Department of Parks and Recreation, is set for the winter months. Second through sixth grade boys and girls will drill on basics in this program. Dan Boland will be teaching this class on Saturday mornings over at the McHenry Junior High School.
