On spring-fed lakes and any water with a current, weak spots or thin ice can occur. Even though certain spots can be posted "Safe Skating", you must stay close to those areas that are marked as being safe. It should also be a must for persons to wear a life jacket when traveling over iced water. Snowmobile riders often cross the ice too fast to realize the possibility of breaking through and even the best swirhrner will fcucmrribto^he wimbing cold water and not be able to rea®i safety. A flotation snowmobile suit could^ave a life. These words of caution com&from Bill Sheehan, divemaster for the McHenry County MABAS Division V Dive Team an<J captain of the McHenry County Emergency Services afid Disaster Agency (MCESDA) Scuba Team. Sheehan said that in past years the team has been called out for drownings and near drownings when individuals have fallen through the ice. There were several calls last year when snowmobilers ventured out on soft ice and actually dove into op^n water. 1.75 LITER The dive team as well as the fire-rescue units in McHenry County are very faWiiliar with a new approach to cold water near drownings. There are several cases where people have been saved from drowning after they have been in the water for over 40 minutes. They are training constantly with this in mind and if an ice accident should occur, call your nearest fire-rescue department and return to the scene to guide rescue workers. They have the necessary equipment and experience needed for ice accidents. POP RC, Diet Rite, RC 100 S.F. RC 1,00 $A 29 12-12 OZ. ' JS CANS Coke, Diet Coke,, Decaf. Coke, S.F. Decaf. Coke 8-16 OZ.
