For superior scholarship, nearly 300 students at the University of Illinois have been elected to the Phi Kappa Phi honor society. They include Stephanie Allen, 816 Black Partridge, and Denice Primeaus, 4811 S. Wildwood, both of McHenry. While other scholastic honor societies recognize achievement in specific fields, Phi Kappa Phi honors outstanding scholarship in all academic areas. LOWERY Sarah Lowery, daughter of Thomas Lowery, 3711 W. Main Street, McHenry, is among the 154 full-time students named to the President's List at North Central College for the fall term. To be eligible for the President's List as a full-time student, undergraduates must attain a grade point average of 3.7 (4.0 equals A) for the term, or maintain a cumulative grade peint average of 3.5 for all , college work. Rick Bellairs of WXRD-FM, co- sponsors with WMCW, Harvard, on behalf of the Easter Seal Society for McHenry County, spoke to students and delivered the forms. This is the seventh year for Dance-A-Thon, the largest annual fund raiser for th^ local society.. According to Easter Seal Public Relations Director, Jenny Van Treese, "This is going to be the greatest party of the winter season. Live bands will play. Prizes will be awarded throughout the event and to the 10 dancers „raising the most money. One student1 is Kim Schuler of Wonder Lake, daughter of Mr. N and Mrs. Joseph Schuler. Kim Splays the alto sax. Another is Mike Fuller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Fuller of Algonquin, who plays percussion. From McHenry, Roseanne Catanzaro and Craig Kunz were chos"en. Roseanne is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Catanzaro and she. plays the contrabass clarinet. Craig, son of ]VIr. and Mrs. Roger Kunz, plays the flute. Yolanda Salazar will represent Marian playing the clarinet. Yolanda is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.F. Salazar of Crystal Lake. These students, with an alternate, Kip Kolthoff, son of Mrs. and Mrs. Wendell Kolthoff of Johnsburg, will represent Marian Central in the Honors Band. The first performance by this McHenry County Honors Band will be Jan, 19, at Crystal Lake Central High School from 7 to 10 p.m.v* under the direction of Larry Livingston.
