DEATHS Sophie Reinke, of Bristol, WI, formerly of Sunnyside Estates, McHenry, died Saturday, Dec. 31, at the Westosha Emergency Center, Silver Lake, WI. She was 83 years old, born in Chicago April 13, 1900, the daughter of Paul and Josephine Wojda. Mrs. Reinke moved to Bristol from Sunnyside seven years ago) She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Reinke Feb. 8, 1975. Surviving are one son, Robert (DarlencO of Bristol; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Cowles of McHenry; 12 grand­ children and three great­ grandchildren. VA Funeral Mass was con­ ducted- at 10 a.m. Tuesday at SC John the-Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg. Burial was in the church cemetery. Friends called from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Peter M. Justen & Son Funeral Home. REINKE Alice M. Baird, 4504 E. Lake Shore Dr. Wonder Lake, for­ merly of . Detroit, MI, died Sunday, Jan. 1, at McHeniy Hospital. She was born Oct. 13, 1907, in Hillsdale, MI, to Edwin and Oipha (Miller) Hukill. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Earl (Phyllis) Schuster of Wonder Lake; and four grand­ children. She was preceded in death by her husband James Wallace in 1958; and her first liusband, Alvin Baird. Visitation was scheduled from 7 p.m. Tuesday until the timp of service at 8:30, with the R&v. JANUARY 4, 1984 BAIRD MCC plans for trip to see 'Muppets and Friends' •MAYER, SR. PRANGE Elaine Prange, 52, of McHenry, died Wednesday, Dec. 28, at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN. She was born Aug. 21, 1931, in Des Moines, the daughter of Donald land Ida . (Nydegger) Cummings. Mrs. Prange was a resident of McHenry for over 20 years; an active member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, McHenry; and had been em­ ployed as a clerk in the Chef's Kitchen of Jewel Food Store, Crystal Lake. ' , Surviving are her husband Robert; two daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Cheryl) "Loyd of An- tioch, IL and Mrs. Janet Claxton of Crystal Lake; two sons, Paul Ziszik of Island Lake and Mark Ziszik at home; four grand­ children; a sister, Mrs. Harold (Juia) Learn of Phoenix^ AZ; and a brother Hubert Cummings of Clermont, IA. There was no visitation at the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wed­ nesday, Jan. 11, at Shepherd of the Hills with the Rev. Roger Schneider officiating. . Memorifds may be made to the church. George J. Mayer, Sr., 81, of 4720 Parkview, McCullom Lake, McHenry, died Saturday, Dec. 31. He was born in Chicgo April 3, 1902, to Barney and Mary (Blazek) Mayer. A summer resident of the McHenry area for over 50 years, and a permanent resident since 1965, Mr. Mayer had lived in Chicago, where he owned and operated several taverns and liquor stores. His last plaice of business was the Sportsmen's Buffet at Kedzie and Irving. He was a veteran of WW I and a member of Barracks 1315 of the American Legion Post 491. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. James (Betty Ann) Heard of McHenry; a son George (Patricia) Mayer, Jr. of Mc­ Cullom Lake; nine grand­ children; seven great­ grandchildren; and a brother Benjamin, in Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret, Nov: 20,1968. Visitation was held Monday afternoon and evening at the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home, where a funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday by the. Rev. Marion Mailey of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Interment was in Mt. Olive Cemetery.; Memorials are requested to the McHenry Hospital Building Fund. The Office Of Community Services at McHenry County College is planning a trip to view the "Muppets And Friends" exhibition featured at the Museum Of Science And In­ dustry in Chicago Sunday, Jan. 15. See the actual Muppets and other intriguing characters and learn the magic of how they are brought to life. Elements used in building and costuming the Muppets are on display, from construction materials, fabrics, accessories and trimming, to Muppet body parts * and photographs of Muppet builders and designers. Monitors placed in the exhibition present related material from Muppet productions. Plus a back-stage look at the performers at work. A maximum of 40 people will leave from the MCC parking lot at 9:30 a.m. Jan. 15 and travel by chartered bus to the Museum of Science And Industry, where they will enjoy a buffet luncheon before seeing the Muppet exhibit. Return to MCC is estimated at approximately 2:30 p.m. The menu includes chicken paprikash, - Polish sausage, sauerkraut, buttered noodles, green beans amandine, rolls and butter, coffee, tea or milk, apple kuchen and a salad bar. Marie Yurevich, a bus driver for Districts 15 and 156, was saluted by the board for being named a winner of a "Those Who Excel" award. continued from page 1 DISTRICT 156 In other action at the MCHS business meeting, the board accepted a qualified bid of $3,584 from the SET Liquid Waste Systems, Inc. to remove a quantity of chemicals which had been donated to the school 15 years ago. Some of the chemicals were used for chemistry classes, but others were not appropriate for high school use and have deteriorated. Assistant0 Supt. Norb Wolter said that sinceJ the donation was m a d e , E n v i r o n m e n t a l Protection Agency rules have tightened on disposal of such substances. Some of the supply will require special handling and will be disposed of at an out- of-state site. Also, the bid is subject to some higher costs if possible chemical changed require extra handling not already estimated. The board authorized the administration to monitor the project and bring back any exceptional cost increases for approval. Deadline for city stickers Jan. 31 Car owners in the City of McHenry are reminded to purchase 1984 vehicle stickers before the Jan. 31 deadline. The fees are $4 for motorcycles; $6 for cars and trucks (A and B) and $15 for truck licenses (C or greater). For stickers purchased after Jan. 31, the fees are $2 more. In addition, police will be ticketing drivers whose vehicles do not have the appropriate registration after Jan. 31. Stickers can be purchased in the City Clerk's office, 11J1 N.
