It's time to get in shape spurac°^ With the passing of the holidays and a new year beginning, many people discover, through a %rude awakening, that the time to start dieting is now! Hundreds of people start a new diet every day of the year.. But according to statistics, only 12 out of every 100 people on a diet lose weight, and of those 12, only two keep the weight off. For many, that weight loss usually results from a fad diet. The problem associated with fad diets is that the weight lost in two weeks is usually gained back in a matter of weeks, ak<I in three to six months one is ready to diet again. Also, too many fad diets rely on un balanced meals, instant star vation or a great amount of self- discipline. and the result is usually temporary. The problem most people encounter with dieting is not including exercise as part of the weight-loss program. Any- successful weight-loss program should include some form of exercise. Exercise is the key that unlocks the door to sjjmness, and not only because it burns up calories. After exercising, the heart beats faster, temperature is higher than normal and one continues to burn calories. Those extra calories burned can amount to a weight loss of five to ten pounds during the course of a year for the average person. For those losing weight through dieting without exer cise, the chances of being at the same weight ten years later is less than one in ten!
