On Jan. 9,1914, the Woodstock Public Hospital was in corporated to take over management of a private hospital operated at 417 Clay Street in Woodstock. The hospital board moved the hospital to 527 West South Street, the present location on Jan. 4, 1915. Major additions in 1937, 1958, 1962, 1971, 1981, 1982 and 1983 have modified and expanded the shape of Memorial Hospital to its prqg^nt con figuration. Under construction at the front is an addition to provide lar^effacilities for the Snack Bar and Gift Shop staffed by the auxiliary. Remodeling the lobby will begin soon, another major step toward completing the current expansion and remodeling started in 1980. During lobby remodeling, a temporary en trance will be used near the front of the building. A new South Pavilion with a third floor inpatient unit, a first floor surgical suite and a lower level outpatient unit is one area visitors will enjoy touring during an open house. Remodeling the obstetrical nursery area, changes in units aimed at providing inpatient care, and re-location of ad ministrative and business offices are a few of the other physical changes achieved to keep Memorial Hospital as a major center of multi-health care for citizens of McHenry County, said Greenwald. Since there is a limited number of these smaller size booths available, Cunat encouages club representatives to call the Chamber office at 385-4300 immediately to avoid disap pointment of a sell-out.
