Highlights of the open house will be a showing of the Bir thright movie and a slide presentation on fetal develop ment. Officers will be present to answer questions., Refreshments will be served and brochures will be available, all free of charge., Celebrate 25th The McHenry County Association for the Retarded will celebrate its twenty-fifth anniversary Saturday, Jan. 21, at 7 p.m. The party will be held at Chapel Hill Country Club, using the theme, "Evening for Recognition." MCACE schedules film showing McHenry, County Area Childbirth Educators (MCACE) invites the public to attend a showing of the award winning film, "Nan's Class" at Memorial Hospital for McHenry County, Woodstock, Jan. 23, at 8:30 p.m., in the conference center. licts^e The film depicts Jhe labors and deliveries of five cpuples and a single parent who have prepared for the birth of their child by attending Lamaze childbirth preparation classes. It also shows the latest in family centered maternity care, in cluding labor and delivery in a birthing room setting, and the Leboyer Method. MCACE is an organization of American Society for Psychoprophylaxis in Ob stetrics, Inc., (ASPO) certified childbirth educators dedicated to the quality education of parents, hospital staff, and the general public in preparing for childbirth. Instruction is ; given throughout the county in the Lamaze Method, at v&riou* locations. These are ongoing; classes, best taken during thfe last trimester of pregnancy, however, early registration is encouraged. V, New mothers share experiences •r:-t The New Moms Discussion Group, which strives to help new moms deal with all of their new responsibilities, and is open to all new moms, will meet Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 10 a.m. The group offers motors and their babies a time and place to come together and share the negative and positive ex periences of parenting that accompany motherhood during the baby's first year. One need not be a first-time mother to attend. For more information and the location of the meeting, call the group's leader at 459- 8319. The New Moms Discussion Group is sponsored by. the Childbirth and Parenting Association of McHenry County, and offers its members support and information to help with their important roles as parents. One need not be a member of C. & P. A. to attend the New Moms Discussion Group. Other services offered include a bimonthly newsletter; discussion groups for moms Of tots, children's holiday parties, playgroups for pre-schoolers, and meetings which feature authorities speaking on subjects of interest to parents.
