Accept Dance-a-thon challenge Members of the McHenry East High School Student Council accepted the 24-hour Dance-A-Thon pledge sheets and registration forms for the up coming event slated at McHenry County College, Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 4-5. This year's sponsors are WXRD-FM, Crystal Lake and WMCW-AM 1600, Harvard. This is the seventh year for Dance-A-Thon, the largest annual fund raiser for the local society. According to Easter Seals public relations director, Jenny Van Treese, "This is going to be the greatest party of the winter season. We're going to dance and have fun 'all night long' the theme of the 1984 event on behalf of the disabled of McHenry County. Individuals, organizations and businesses are welcome to dance or sponsor dancers." A toted of $96 in pledges is required of every dancer for the full 24 hours. All bringing in $100 or more will receive a free commemorative t-shirt. Prizes will be awarded throughout the event and to the 10 dancers raising the most money. This year's prizes in clude: a waterbed, a cordless telephone, cross country skis, a black and white TV and sun- tanning sessions. Registration forms are available at all area high schools. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Chrisopulos, 5304 Shore Dr., McHenry, are the parents of the bridegroom. The 3 p.m. ceremony was officiated by Father Milane in St. Monica's Catholic Church, Carpentersville, IL., before an altar decorated on each side with floral arrangements. In keeping with the old- fashioned style chosen by the bride, the attendants were similarly attired in red satin, full length dresses, complete with red pillbox hats. Handling the duties of best man was Michael Rowan of Des Plaines. Groomsmen were Michael Budrich of McHenry and Jim Chrisopulos of Tinley Park, IL. The ring bearer was Jason Rich of Carpentersville; and ushers were Ray Marble of Oak Park, IL and Chris Horvath of McHenry. The mother of the bride chose a dusty rose quilted satin, full length dress, fashioned with spaghetti straps and a short waist cut jacket. A grey polyester, full length, straight cut dress was the choice of the groom's mother. Following the nuptials, a reception for 130 friends and relatives was . held at John Evans Inn, Crystal Lake. The newlyweds honeymooned in Japan and they will reside in Okinawa fox four months. Later, perhaps in June of 1984, they will transfer to the groom's next station of duty in the United States Marine Corps. The new Mrs. Chrisopulos graduated from McHenry High School in 1980; attended McHenry County College for two years; and is an accounting clerk for an insurance company. The program will feature a speaker from "Turning Point," a center for Abused and Battered Women. The January meeting began with a prayer circle, as Nancy Hodges offered Grace. Following a delicious potluck luncheon, the meeting was «. -»Ued to order by President Cindy Wolfe, and began with prayer by Nancy. In the absence of the treasurer Veretta Gerstad, President Wolfe conducted a very im pressive pledge service. Meditations, "The Family of God" were interesting and in spirational, with Nancy Hodges. Kathy Boehmer and Ann Hurckes participating in the readings. Mae Stinespring spoke regarding the "Peace Academy" and recommended that everyone write to Senators Baker, Percy and Dixon on Amendment Bill S-564. urging its passage. Charleen Tonyan advised the group of the need for volunteers for Church Women United's project, "Meals On Wheels." Mention was made of the Mission Team (Executive Committee) meeting Monday, Jan. 30, at 9:30 a.m., in the church parlor. The craft group reported that they will be meeting every fourth Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., at the church.
