What is their concern? The abuse of drugs and alcohol in area schools and the com munity. m Burglaries are investigated Gottfried Krapf of McHenry died Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Royal Terrace, McHenry. He was 91 years old, born in Germany Sept. 26, 1892, the son of John and Christine (Scheufel) Krapf. Mr. Krapf lived in McHenry about 35 years, having come from Chicago. A baker by profession, he had owned and operated a bakery in Chicago, and after moving to McHenry, was a baker at the Riverside Bakery for several years. Surviving are his wife Frieda (Stettner) whom he married ---- KRAPF June 5, 1920 in Germany; one daughter, Mrs. Gustav (Ger trude Frieda) Meyers of Elmhurst, IL; two grand children; one great-grandchild; and a sister Sophie Buehler of Germany. f Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, in the Peter M. Justen & Son Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Herman Graef of Zion Lutheran Church, with burial in Woodland Cemetery, McHenry, Visitation was from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Theft reports to the Sheriff's office included a removal of a battery from a truck parked at a residence on Cross Drive, Wonder Lake. The incident, reported Feb. 4, occurred the previous night. The battery was located later in a nearby vacant lot with one post broken, ren dering the item unusable. Sheriff's police investigated a burglary Feb. 6 at Morrie and Sons, 606 S. Route 31, McHenry. During the night someone had broken the glass and entered the building. The intruder pried open a cash register and took $2.50 in change and a hammer. Another break-in was reported Feb. 5 at 5019 N. Woodlawn, McHenry, where the owners advised that nothing was missing. What can be done about it? CCA is trying to find a better/ way by educating and helping youths and adults understand and prevent this problem. Here are some facts from CCA: One in 10 teenagers is an alcoholic. The single leading cause of dealth among 15 to 24 year olds is drunk driving. Teenagers can become alcoholics in six to 18 months. It takes an adult five to 15 years. s.. One glass of wine, one can of beer and one shot of whiskey are all the same in alcoholic content. A total of 15 million teenagers risk damage to their lungs, brain and reproductive systems by smoking marijuana every day. The average age of beginning drug use is 12.9 years. There will be two task force meetings on Tuesday, Feb. 14. The Education and Help task force will meet at 7:30 p.m. in Room 210 at McHenry West Campus. The Community Action task force will meet at 7:30 p.m. at McHenry East Campus. All members of the public are welcome to come and learn, and help CCA. Lee is being held in county jail on $1 million bond. Following testimony from Ilinois State Police and county law enforcement officials, the grand jury returned an ad ditional bill of indictment to the court. The bill remains sealed pending further arrest warrants in the matter. John Clyde Bailey died in California Jan. 6. He was 38 years old, born in Chicago May 15, i945. Mr. Bailey lived in McHenry from 1948 to 1967, when he moved to California to work at Hughes Aircraft Co. as an electrical engineer. Surviving are his mother, BAILEY Mrs. Clyde Bailey of McHenry; a sister, Karen Roti of Crystal Lake; step-sister, Jeanne Richardson of Maui, Hawaii; two nephews and three nieces. A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18. Camping en thusiasts who are willing to serve as vo lun tee r cam pground hosts at Illinois state parks are being sought by the Department of Conservation, (DOC). A campground host receives free camping privileges and $1 per day in e x c h a n g e f o r performing such duties as greeting visitors, collecting Reach Out Month slated Reach Out Month begins this Sunday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m., with Bring a Friend Sunday at the Village Church of Wonder Lake, 4418 East Wonder Lake Road (the old fire station). Pastor Dennis Shaw, family and congregation invite the community to join in worship, fellowship and Christian action. A special musical program of Christian song will highlight this Bring A Friend Sunday celebration. The Village Church offers nursery care and Sunday School for children and adults each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. Sunday worship service is held at 11 a.m. followed by lunch and fellowship and at 7 p.m. Sunday evening. The public is invited to attend Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. for prayer and praise.
