GEORGE CHRISOPULOS St. Monica'8 Catholic Church, Carpenters ville, EL was the setting for the exchange of wedding vows Jan. 21, between the former Deborah Marie Szilasi of South Elgin, IL and George Harry Chrisopulos of Me Henry. Father Milane was the officiating clergyman for the 3 p.m. nuptials. The bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs. Vernon Petersen, 1305 Hillside Ln., McHenry. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Chrisopulos, 5304 Shore Dr., McHenry, are the parents of the bridegroom. .4 reception for 130 friends and relatives was held at John Evans Inn, Crystal Lake. The newlyweds honeymooned in Japan and they will reside in Okinawa for four months. Later, they will transfer to the groom's next station of duty in the United States Marine Corps. The bride graduated from McHenry High School in 1980; attended McHenry County College for two years; and is an accounting clerk for an in­ surance company. The groom graduated from Oak Park River Forest High School in 1974. U.M.W. to attend coffee The U. M. W. Mission Team (Executive Committee) of the United Methodist Women of the Pi! st United Methodist Church of McHenry was called to order by President Cindy Wolfe, and hepan with prayer by Nancy Hodges. An invitation was extended to all new officers to attend the President's Coffee Wednesday, Feb 15, at the Roselle Methodist Church. Naomi Circle reported that the revamping project of the nursery is progressing nicely ard toys and equipment ordered will be delivered within a short time. A coustical tile will be installed on ihe ceiling in the Fellowship Hall in the very near future. It was unanimously approved that the U. M. W. will advance funds to the craft group for bazaar work and babysitters; the expense to be deducted from the bazaar proceeds. Unanimous approval was given for the purchase of African Palm Crosses to be distributed Palm Sunday. Plans are being made whereby the U. M. Guests of honor will include James Pedigo, President of the Third District of Northern Illinois and Past Presidents, along with numerous dignitaries representing the Supreme Lodge at Mooseheart, IL. Of­ ficers and wives of the 11 other lodges in the district will also be present. Women of the Moose will cook a prime rib dinner, served in­ dividually to each guest. Dan­ cing will follow with live music, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Reservations are requested and they may be made at the lodge. Hold breakfast The Crystal Lake Jaycee Women announce their annual Sesame Street Breakfast will be held Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 25 and 26, at North Junior High, 170 N. Oak St., Crystal Lake, from 9 a.m. until noon. Big Bird, Count Count, Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch , Bert and Ernie will be there, as well as puppet shows and ample opportunity for pictures. Everyone is encouraged to bring cameras. The menu includes coffee, tea, milk, juice, sausage, and unlimited pancakes, all at a minimal charge. A lesser price has been set for children under five and senior citizens. Proceeds will benefit worthy Jaycee Women projects such as, Babysitters' Safety School, Fingerprinting program, public service awards banquet and many others. Finalize plans for meeting-brunch As part of the yearly mem­ bership drive, the Mental Health Resource League for McHenry County is presenting its annual meeting-brunch Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the scenic Crystal Lake Country Club. League membership chair­ man Mrs. William Braun has announced that check-in time for members and guests will be 9:30 a.m. A brief business meeting will follow, with new officers and directors to be elected. The highlight of the day will be a delicious brunch menu any of them is urged to contact Veretta Gerstad. She will also be taking the reservations. The Northern Illinois Con­ ference Women's Retreat is set for March 17 and 18 at Lin- colnway Lodge, North Aurora, IL. The theme is "To Celebrate God and Catch Your Breath." Deadline for reservations is March S. The Seventh Annual Women's Information Day, sponsored by the McHenry County College Re- Entry Program, is scheduled for Saturday, March 24, when the keynote speaker will be Joan Esposito, News Anchor, Reporter for WLS-TV in Chicago. The Third Annual Women's History Celebration will be held March 26 and 27, at McHenry County College. Another important and in­ teresting communication was given on M.A.D.D. (Mothers Against Drunken Drivers). The U. M. W. February General Meeting will be Thursday, Feb. 16, at 9:30 a.m., with Naomi Circle serving as hostesses. The program will be presented by a speaker from Turning Point, Center for Abused-Battered Women. Guests are welcome. The Mental Health Resource League is a non-profit organization with membership open to any woman in McHenry County. The group has over 200 members who are concerned about mental health services and facilities available to county residents. The league supports mental health programs through financial aid and volunteer services. Members work toward ear­ ning monies to be distributed to county agencies that request funds for various projects and to fund an annual $1000 scholarship in graduate studies. Two yearly events sponsored by the league are "Fair Did- dley," which will be held Sun­ day, May 20, on the Woodstock City Square; and "Bringing in the Holidays," a boutique and fashion show scheduled in Oc­ tober. Set French cooking classes McHenry County College is introducing a four-week series of classes, beginning Feb. 29, designed to teach the beginner the skills needed to cook most French recipes. "Classical French Cooking" class meets Wednesdays from 6:45 to 9 p.m., Feb. 29 through March 21, and will cover techniques such as poaching, baking, boning, sauteing and sauce making. Some of the recipes to be demonstrated and sampled are Potage Crecy, Pommes Dauphine, Moules Mariniere, Tart Tatin, Spinach Souffle, Sole Parisienne, Chocolate Mousse, Seafood Terrine, Steak au Poivre and Poached Pears, as well as a wide range of sauces from veloute to raspberry. In addition, a French dessert seminar will be held for one session only Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 6:45 to 9 p.m. One can learn to make a flourless chocolate, Grand Marnier souffle in puff pastry, strawberries with sabayon sauce, fruit tarts, and more. The instructor is Maureen Kensick. She lived in France for two years and is a graduate of L'Ecole de la Cuisine Francaise, in Glenview, where she studied under the late Chef John Snowden. Pre-registration is required. Register at McHenry County College Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., or Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Payment is due at time of registration.
