He began his career as a substitute carrier in 1961. His Coast Guard service counted toward his 25- year career. Recognized for long service Postmaster Lorraine W. Murphy of Wonder Lake last week awarded a 25-year pin to George (Bud) Street for his service to the people of Wonder Lake. He will retire this year on his sixtieth birthday. rHis postal career started as a substitute mail carrier in 1961. He became a regular carrier Aug. 17, 1963. He served as acting postmaster from Feb. 24, 1967, to March 14, 1969. He also served as Rural Route 1, 2 and 3 carrier at some time in his career. Street has been active in the community through the years, serving the Harrison School Board for 10 years, the Wonder Lake Fire Department for 25 years, and as a manager and umpire for Little League. He served three and a half years in the Coast Guard. A native of Chicago, George Street and his wife, Amy, were married in June of 1949. They will soon celebrate their thirty- fifth wedding anniversary. The couple has two children, a daughter, Kimberly Daniels, of Marseilles, 111., and a son, Kendall, of St. Louis, Mo.; also two grandchildren, Tiffany* Rae and Stacey Lynn Daniels. Congratulations were ex­ tended to Street by fellow em­ ployees as he received his award. Feb. 28-29 McHenry County agricultural agencies and organizations are joining forces for the second year to bring the ag community two days of top-quality programming. Feb. 28 and 29 are the dates of the 1984 McHenry County Ag Days which will again be held at Andre's Steak House in Richmond. Billed as the largest county agricultural event outside of the county fair, the two-day program will feature several well-known speakers including Tom Skilling, WGN meteorologist, and Len Gard­ ner, Illinois Farm Bureau's Director of Governmental Af­ fairs. In addition, there will be over 30 commercial exhibits. Agencies cooperating in this endeavor include the McHenry County Farm Bureau, Ex­ tension Service, Soil and Water Conservation District, ASCS, Lamb and Wool Producers' Association, Livestock Association, Pork Producers' Association, and McHenry F.S. A number of other local com­ panies are also helping to sponsor the program. McHenry County producers, whether part-time or full-time, are encouraged to attend and may register by contacting the McHenry County Extension Service at 815-338-3737 or 338- 4747. 4-H Foundation honors two on board At the McHenry County 4-H Youth Foundation annual meeting, recognition was given to retiring board member, Dick Anderson, for his past service and a warm welcome to Jane Long of Marengo, who will fill the vacancy on the board. Gini McConnell and Jan Sherwin were also elected to each serve a second term as board members. The treasurer reported that the expected financial goal for the 1983 fiscal year was at­ tained. Larry West is stepping down as president after several years of loyal service, but will still remain as a board member. At the board meeting, immediately following the annual meeting, Gini McConnell was elected as the new president; Irv Steveteig, vice-president; June Detwiler, secretary and Jan Sherwin, treasurer. It was noted that hen­ ceforth, the Foundation will be responsible for handling the Sally Harrison Memorial Fund, as well as reviewing the can­ didates and selecting the recipient each year. • CROWNS County Ag days set for
