MOLLY MILLIGAN Your Home Decorator © 1994 Palsy Milligan Syndicate SITTING PRETTY Dear Molly Milligan: We are moving into a new house (his spring which has a large master bedroom. How can I create a "sitting room" look in my bedroom? Chatty Cathy, Harvard, IL Dear Cathy: This look can be created by including some pieces of living room furniture and dispensing with large chests, armoires and dressing tables which are often overpowering and unnecessary. Storage can be created in other areas of the house. For example: Place two small French chairs and a coffee table in a nice seating arrangement for daytime conversation. A small scaled wicker sofa or loveseat with a Parsons end table in the window area would also be a relaxing spot. A bedroom which functions only as a bedroom is a waste of valuable space. Dear Molly Milligan: We have a small alcove at one end of our living room which has me stumped. How can I use this space to best advantage? Bookworm, Cary, IL Dear Bookworm: If this alcove is isolated from the rest of your living room you could use this space to create a little library or perhaps a mini-den. A built-in bookcase from floor to ceiling on the narrowest wall with a desk and a chair would be a marvelous beginning. If you still have room, add a second chair and ottoman. Now, you have the perfect hideaway for reading, sewing or paperwork. This could turn into your favorite corner in the house so be sure to invest in a good reading lamp. »dc iionii Dais it'll 50 Pn fusKti Per On Double Occuoinc, llo Wod Stmcti Resort owner robbed, beaten by intruders SECTION 2 - PAGE 3 - PLA1NDEALER - FRIDAY, FEBRUARY ItM 50 YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of March 1, 1934).
