SECTION 2 - PAGE 8 - PLAINDEALER WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY ». IfM ^BBgenera!^^™ News Pre-measurement service available for farmers The McHenry Couty Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service provides pre-measurement and other producer services to assure farmers that they are in com pliance with 1984 acreage reduction requirements and eligible for program benefits. "At the request of the producer, we will stake and measure acreages before crop planting time," Susan A,. Maraccini, county executive director, said. "Farmers are required to plant within the stakes that are placed when the land is measured and to report their crop acreages to our office when planing is completed. We also offer an in-office measurement service where we provide the footage to the producer and it is his respon sibility to complete the staking in the field." To be eligible for price support loans, target prices and other program benefits, producers must certify actual planted acreages. Maraccini said pre- measurement is important in helping farmers plan which land to devote to the acreage con servation reserve and which fields to plant. Other ASCS producer services iQClude measuring total cropland, field or subdivisions to be planted and land areas for other purposes. Fees vary, based on the type of service rendered. "Pre-measured acreage is guaranteed for the program year and producrs who take advantage of the service will avoid unnecessary worry over the possible loss of 1984 farm program benefits," the ASCS official said. i y Nevada Dance Theatre concludes the 1983-84 Com munity Concerts season at Crystal Lake South High School Tuesday, March 6.
