He says the White Sox will go all the way this year. Eddie Bimbo spent his vacation in Arizona and is another one of those kind who brag about the climate out that way. The weatherman predicted we would have 12 inches of snow Monday morning. I was all set to ski over to the Plaindealer office with my copy. ; A package of crossword puzzle books came to our door. Just one guess who had them mailed to us. It had to be another puzzle bug from Tucson. They will keep me out of mischief for quite a while. To hear presidential and other candidates knock each other makes me wonder where all the good guys are. If March was planning on coming in like a lion, the last days of February acted like a real tail twister. With the ground covered with snow Tuesday morning, more than a hundred birds swooped down to our feeding station. ' I have been enjoying reading reports from the baseball training camps. Seems to me the White Sox are so loaded with talent that it would be neighborly to let the Cubs have a couple of players. A friend greeted me with, "What's new?" Dumb like, I answered, "I Dunno". The truth was, I had listened to news reports from two stations and hadn't heard one bit of good news. There must be something good happening in the world, but maybe it doesn't take the fancy of the listening public. One squirrel comes to see us every day to see what goodies we have to offer. Once in awhile, he brings a couple of little chums with him. Watching that little devil stuff himself with corn makes me think we could feed a pig with that ration and have some pork chops in six months. 2-24-84 "Dear SIH: "Going back in memory of life on the farm: The question of what has become of the jGypsies occured to me. "The sudden appearance of their campfire and their gear, was one of the high lights of our summer. It was exciting - early one morning a tribe wai there, circulating around, and then, over night it all disappeared. "A long-gone nice memory. "K. Brown" How well I remember brightly dressed Gypsies. The story was around that they stole children so little ones headed for home when the roaming ones hit town. They travelled by horse and covered wagons. Later by automobile and buses. They would beg and steal. Farmers were always asked for oats for the horses. Storekeepers couldn't watch them closely enough. It was the women who entered a store, wearing flowing gowns to cover stolen items. One time when Frank Page and I rode our ponies to the County Fair in Woodstock, Gypsies stopped us and held the bridles. As soon as they stepped back, we put the boots to our ponies and didn't stop until we were miles away. When a band of Gypsies came to town, it was the duty of the local police to keep them moving. They were about as welcome as a hawk in a chicken yard. Happy Birthday HAPPY 21st T.R. LOVE, NOH, DAD. LOAN, JANET, GENE AND NIKKI Chickens Today Feathers...
