See us at Expo '84 • Booth D-12 Chamber President Ellis: Promoting local business The backbone of the Crystal Lake Expo can be easily trac ed to the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce, the sponsor ing body of the annual event. And much of the success of the Chamber can be credited to Its elected officials, among them President Terry Ellis. The presidency of the local Chamber is a position held by many individuals recently, due to the death of Jackie Krepel and the resignation of Bob Wise for personal reasons. Never theless, the Chamber is still an active group of more than 500 members, dedicated to the continued growth of the business and industrial sectors. Ellis, who is president of the First National Bank of Crystal Lake, was elected to the Chamber post in January, and will retain it until the June 30 elections. The nine-year resident of Crystal Lake has been involved with the Chamber for as many years, holding seats as a member of the board directors and executive vice president prior to his current post. According to Ellis, the reason the Chamber has organized the Expo for the past three years, is to make the public aware of what the city has to offer. "We're trying to promote local business and industry -- That's what the Chamber is all about. It really lets the peo ple of the community know what is available to them. You'd be surprised how many people aren't aware of what they are able to buy right here in our community." As an executive officer of the First National Bank, which las been serving Crystal Lake for 23 years, Ellis has seen he city recover quite well from a poor economy.
