New owners of McHenry Sports store George and Eileen Lane and Don and Shirley Toole have sold McHenry* 8 Favorite Sport Center to Chris and Sue Car damone, Bill and Debbie Oef fling, and Pete and Marisa Merkel. Change of ownership comes five years during which the Lane and Tooles have operated the business. The new owners announced this week that they intend to continue the same quality ^service and merchandise the public has enjoyed in the past. Green Street, A/VcHenry, holds cake bearing name of the new business for which grand opening is being held this weekend. Bev's World grand opening at the McHenry location, 1220 N. Green Street, had its start March 8 and continues Friday and Saturday, March 9 and 10. Owners are Bev and Harry Brinkley of Waukegan. Their daughter, Anne Marie, will manage the McHenry store. The business offers a com plete line of supplies and equipment for candy making and cake decorating, as well as service. Lessons are designed from beginners to advanced, young adults, children and men. In struction includes cake decorating, candy making and food classes. In additon to regular classes, the business seasonally offers one and one- half hour free lessons on candy making. Pool passes Park Director Peter Merkel received council support for a plan to have residents register early for pool passes. Bev Brinkley has been in the decorating business for 20 years. She attends seminars frequently to keep abreast of new trends in the industry. Tuesday Kitchen The Neighborhood Kitchen will again be in operation serving meals between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, in St. Patrick's Church hall on Washington Street. The kitchen opened last month to accommodate individuals or families in need. Transart Industries, a Georgia-based company art marketing firm has announced that Karen Lee Pepping is representing its company in this area. As an accessory designer, she will specialize in helping the clients to select the right art work for their home or office. She will offer suggestions concerning color coordination, wall groupings and the in vestment potential of original art. The firm specializes in direct residential, commerial and corporate sales consulting. TCie completed wall art is assembled, packaged and shipped to the accessory designer from Transart's Georiga plant. It is then hung on the client's wall by the designer. "We specialize in a complete start-to-finish job." Karen Lee said. License stickers made available Secretary of State Jim Edgar has announced that more than 1,400 Illinois financial in stitutions have begun over-the- counter sales of 1985 passenger car renewal stickers. Edgar said the 1985 stickers went on sale Feb. 1 at 660 banks, 171 savings and loan associations, 16 credit unions and about 600 Chicago area currency exchanges. "Services at financial in stitutions have been expanded to include sales of new passenger license plates being renewed this year," Edgar said. "If you have a current license plate with numbers only, you will be issued new plates this year," he explained. "If you want the same plate number, your application can be processed at a financial in stitution."
