Mission Team (Executive Committee) meeting of the United Methodist Women of the First United Methodist Church of McHenry began with prayer. The U.M.W. will hostess the March 25 Lenten Potluck Dinner at 5 p.m, in the Fellowship Hall, when the program will be "Statue of Liberty." Michelle Prentiss was the officiating clergyman for the 4:30 p.m. candlelight ceremony in the First Congregational Church, Crystal Lake. The bride is the daughter of Richard and Evelyn Wieczorek, 241 Weaver Dr., Cary. Raymond and Arlene Guzzardo, 3302 W. 3rd Ave., McHenry, are the parents of the bridegroom. The bride was gowned for the occasion in a traditional white dress, fashioned in the Victorian style. It was lavishly em­ bellished with lace and ruffles. A matching white hat completed the look. Attending the bride as maid of honor was Laura Wieczorek of Cary. Bridesmaids were Carla Guzzardo of DeKalb, IL, Barb Guzzardo of McHenry, Mary Cunningham of Crystal Lake and Chris Botts of Marengo, IL. Attendants were attired in floor length dresses of emerald green chiffon. Handling the duties of best man was Joe Guzzardo of McHenry. The mother of the bride chose to wear a mint green chiffon, floor length dress. A mauve floor length dress was the choice of the groom's mother. Following the nuptials, a reception for 200 friends and relatives was held at the Old Towne House in Crystal Lake. Upon their return from a Caribbean Cruise honeymoon, the newlyweds will make their home in Cary. The new Mrs. Guzzardo received an Associate degree in Fashion Merchandising and her husband graduated with a Bachelor degree in Music. Both are presently employed by the First National Bank of Chicago; she as a secretary, and he, a supervisor. and Saturday, from 8 a.m. to noon. The district meeting, "Day of Spiritual Renewal" will be held Tuesday, April 3, at Faith United Methodist Church in Elgin, with both a daytime and evening session. March: Nutrition month March is National Nutrition Month, an excellent time to re­ discover those helpful but often •"Overlooked nutrition labels that appear on so many food products. Ten years after the Food and Drug Administration proposed labeling food products, nearly 44 percent of packaged food products are labeled with nutrition information. By reading a nutrition label, one may learn the number of calories in a serving; number of grams of protein, carbohydrate and fat in each serving; per­ centage of the U.S. Recom- mended Daily Allowance of protein, five vitamins and two minerals in a serving of the product; and a list of other vitamins and minerals, polyunsaturated and saturated fats, cholesterol and sodium. If a nutrient is added to a food or a manufacturer makes a nutrition claim, the food product must have a nutrition label., Other foods are voluntarily labeled with nutrition in­ formation by manufacturers, as a service to consumers. This information is helpful in identifying what foods are good sources of specific nutrients. By reading the nutrition in­ formation panel on a container of milk, for example, one will learn that milk is a good source of calcium. Cans of fruit juices and fruit drinks can be com­ pared for their Vitamin A and Vitamin C content. The label information also is helpful in selecting foods for special diets, and can be used to compare newly introduced foods with familiar foods to determine the best nutrition buys. Women's club aids FISH Hostesses Victoria Bottari and Cecilia Oakford carried out a St. Patrick's Day theme in decorations and refreshments at the March meeting of the Lakeland Park Women's Club, making it quite festive. The collection for March for FISH amounted to $25.50. Mary Dobbins made a preliminary report on the special project for i^ISH that, will continue until May. It was announced that election of officers will be held at the April meeting; installation to be at the May meeting. A 'White Elephant' sale will be the en­ tertainment at the May meeting; members should be accumulating items for the sale. And, the Officers Recognition Dinner will be held in June. Barbara Burke mentioned the bike-a-thon to be held June 10. Sponsors are needed, along with people to man the check points. Cecilia Oakford told abut the 'Neighborhood Kitchen' at St. Patrick's Church, serving dinners to the needy every Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. Then, Ruth Roach asked everyone to save two-pound plastic coffee can lids as they can be used at the 'Neigh­ borhood Kitchen.' The next meeting of the group will be Thursday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m., at the Lakeland Park Community House, 1717 N. Sunset Ave. Hostesses will be Barbara Burke and Ruth Roach.
