In a statement released shortly before 10:30 a.m., Pesce said he had met the goals he set when he came to the health care facility in 1979 and would resign effective July 1. The executive director's secretary Wednesday morning said Pesce was unavailable for comment at that time. "I have been with Memorial Hospital five years and I believe that most of the organizational goals we developed have been accomplished," .Pesce said in the statement. "I will miss the challenge of the position of executive director and the camaraderie, but I believe that 1984 is the appropriate time to pass on the leadership." Pesce will continue to setve as a consultant to the hospital for an unspecified period.
