GRAY Associated Press Writer CHIANG MAI, Thailand (AP) --She can stiO hear the laughter: here was a foreign woman in a male-dominated Asian society trying to get people who either scooped up the rain or boiled tap water to pay for her bottled product. Maxine Robert North, an American widow with no ex­ perience in Asia, ignored the ubes and went on to pioneer Thailand's bottled water in­ dustry. Today, the slim, youthful-looking woman is perhaps the most successful ex­ patriate businessperson in Thailand.
