"Taking Charge: A Con­ ference for People with Ar­ thritis," will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Westin Hotel, Chicago. The keynote speaker will be Gail Riggs, M.A., a nationally- recognized health professional involved in arthritis-related activities. Speaking on the many ways individuals and groups can affect public policy will be John McCray, vice president, Government Affairs, of the Arthritis Foundation's national office. Local reheumatologists - doctors who specialize in the treatment of arthritis - and other area specialists will also present concurrent sessions dealing with many different aspects of thev disease. Topics will indkide osteoar­ thritis, reheumatoid arthritis, lupus, juvenile arthritis, gout and scleroderma. Subjects of equal interest will include biofeedback and pain control, arthritis medications, quackery, surgery and aids in joint com­ fort and protection. The registration fee for the conference is $10, which in­ cludes lunch.
