Lakemoor/Lilymoor area news: PAGE 7 - PL AINDEALER - FRIDAY, APRIL 20, 1W4 KEEP YOUR DOGS UNDER CLOSE WATCH A note of precaution for dog owners. Dog days are here again so extra care is needed to keep dogs op a chain or in their yards. The Meyer's dog got loose and the family was unable to locate it before everyone had to leave for the day's activities. An annoyed neighbor, using a BB gun, shot at the dog. The pellet wait through the dog's eye and lodged in his head. Margaret Karas 385-4934 The vet's examination showed the eye destroyed, and perhaps surgery would be needed for the removal of the pellet. All this pain for the dog, the worry and cost to the Meyers, because of mating season and a neighbor's anger. Laura's remarks included, "If you value your dog, keep it home or it might get shot." Sad. NEW VENTURE Terry Bird of Lily Lake Park is finally in his home turf with his new eatery in McHenry. Terry has had restaurants in Lake Zurich, Fox Lake and -Woodstock and is now serving at his place on Main Street, West McHenry. Being close to home makes wife Judy very happy, as the time put in driving to work often seemed longer than the actual work. 'Terry is quite a chef, so we are looking forward to sampling some of his creations. And maybe hell even give us a smile, instead of being his "Grumpy" self! Good luck in your new venture, T. Bird. SPECIAL FIFTH Jeannette, five-year-old daughter of Bobbie and John Wright, had a special birthday party Sunday April 15,v even though her real birth date is the 17th. Her three playmates, Frankie Farenzena, Amy Hensley and Kristin Swanson, who are all five years old, helped Jeannette have a fun filled "Care-Bear" party. They will be continuing their friend ship as they start school together in the fall. Visiting from out of town for the weekend were Jeannette's Uncle Roy and Aunt Fay. And giving special birthday wishes were big brothers Steven and Brian. Lots of caring and many bear hugs went into this happy fifth birthday party. THANKFUL TIME Friday the 13th is usually considered a bad lu& time, but this didn't follow for Laura and Connie Meyer of Lilymoor. They were driving through Wonder Lake when their car was hit in the rear. Fortunately, the car was not too damaged, and Connie's bruised knee and Laura's painful wrist and hand were the only casualties. Laura said Friday the 13th was her lucky day, because it could have been a serious accident. SPECIAL DATES / April 20-His crucifixic April 22-His Give thanks that He livfcs! April 25~Secretary's Day. They need thanks, too. April 26-Lakemoor Village meeting, 8 p.m. CELEBRATIONS Birthday time for neighbor Carl Stromley is April 21. In this time of thankfulness, we add ours for having Carl as a neigh bor who helps us in so many ways. Everyone should be so lucky! Also celebrating the 21st are Peggy Rupp of Lakemoor and Marion Arneson. Pearl Zabroski has her day April 23. Chris Glus adds a teen year the same date. Chris often helps her mother Peggy who is the treasurer for the Friends of the MN Library, with library affairs. Brett Alan Wilhoit of Parkside will be four years old April 24. Wonder what big sister Katie will surprise him with? Troy Marshall will be celebrating the same day. Anniversary wishes go to two Lakemoor couples. George and Edna Garbacz celebrate theirs on the 22nd, and Michael and Lorene Martin recognize theirs the 26th. FENCED IN Improving the appearance of one's home and yard always has a positive influence on the area. Wayne and Bonnie Dawell of Lily Lake Park have done that by completely surrounding their yard with rustic fencing that compliments their A-style frame house. It also makes for a safer play yard for the children and that dignified Afghan who surveys the surrounding countryside. UKRANIAN EGGS On display at the McHenry Nunda Library are two dozen beautifully decorated eggs, painted by Wasylyna (Lena) Glus, using the art form developed by generations of Ukranians Each egg has a different design in strong vibrant colors. Also shown is a plate painted with various egg designs, and instructions for the egg coloring process. Daughter- in-law Peggy Glus of Lakemoor arranged the display. The pre-school story time youngsters have been painting Easter eggs also, and these have been hung on the "Easter Egg" apple tree blooming in the library. This was arranged by Lorry Deeke who is also known for her "Clownie" puppet rendition. Stop in at your library and enjoy the beauty of these hand- decorated Easter symbols. FAREWELL There is a reluctance in reading of the retirement of a lady with whom I share memories of school years at McHenry Community High School, where she was an ex cellent musician on the varied instruments of coronet and xylophone, plus doing well on the tennis court and scholastically. Then, later, meeting in the Fine Arts Building in Chicago where she studied voice while I did my thing on the fourth floor. So Adele has finally decided to take her Smith-Corona home, and go on to new fields. Perhaps a book, or travel, or those many plans put on "hold" these past 42 exciting, nerve-wracking, fulfilling years of being responsible for our home town newspaper. I will continue to watch for her "Musin' & Meanderin'" and hope she will enjoy doing both, wherever the whim takes her.
