DEATHS Palatine, IL; and 11 James W. Silk James W. Silk, 65, of McHenry, died Thursday, April 19, 1984, in McHenry Hospital. He was born Feb. 16, 1919, in Emington, IL, the son of James and May (Lloyd) Silk. Mr. Silk, a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Des Plaines, IL, was a resident of the McHenry area the past year and a resident of Des Plaines 28 years prior to that. He had been employed as a chef at Northwestern University in Evanston for 35 years; and was a WW n navy veteran, in combat in the South Pacific. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Margaret (Starck), whom he married June 21,1941 in Evanston; three daughters, Mrs. Roger (Sandy) Nick and Mrs. Terry (Jacqueline) /McMahon, both of Crystal Lake and Patricia Simek of McHenry; two sons, Ronakyt Ariette) of Crystal Lake and Michael (Susan) of P grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Arthur of Joliet, IL and Eugene of Long Grove, ILr and three sisters, Mary Jo House of Westchester, IL; Margaret Martensen of Tucson, AZ; and Helen Maggio of McHenry. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Agnes and a brother Charles. Visitation was from 3 to 9 p.m, Friday at the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home. A Funeral Blessing was conducted at 10 . a.m. Saturday by Father John Holdren in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Johnsburg, with interment in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family or the Johnsburg Rescue Squad. Jack Cooper Jack. Cooper, 69, of McHenry, died Sunday, April 22, 1984, in McHenry Hospital. He was born June 19, 1914, in Illinois. Mr. Cooper was retired. He had been an active member of V.F.W. Post 5040, Woodstock; McHenry American Legion Post 411; Moose Lodge, Woodstock; and the Golden K Kiwanis group. He served in the European Theatre during WW n and was awarded the Bronze Star and Overseas Service Bar. Surviving are his wife Pearl; two sons, Fred and Michael; one daughter Eileen; one grandson and one brother. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Piser, Weinstein, Menorah Chapel, 9200 Skokie Blvd., Skokie, EL. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Norridge, IL. Memorials can be made to either the McHenry Area Rescue Squad or the Heart Fund. Bank/robber Plaindealer news service A gunman who walked into a Woodstock bank on a March night in 1982 and escaped with SI,900 has been given a four-year prison term by a federal judge. Charles Eric Pharr, who at the time of the sentencing resided in Kenosha, Wis., received the sentence for the March 12, 1982, robbery at Skokie Federal Savings, 320 Eastwood Dr. Pharr had pleaded guilty to the robbery earlier this year, and he appeared for sentencing before U.S. District Judge Nordberg of the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago. Suratt, 50,1011 Bdgewood Dr., McHenry, died Sunday, April 22, 1964, in McHenry Hospital. He was born in Trenton, TN, Jan. 21, 1834, to Gctorge and Cora (Curry) Suratt. A resident of McHenry County 23 years, formerly of the northwest side of Chicago, Mr. Suratt worked for Intermatic, Spring Grove, 32 years as a manager of inspection for quality control; and belonged to the Algonquin Moose Lodge. Surviving are his wife Nina Jean (Calvaruso) whom he married April 17, 1981 in Las Vegas; four daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Diana) Zawistowski, Tamela Suratt and Audra Buikema, all of McHenry ® and Mrs. James (Pamela) Keeney (of Mundelein, IL; two sons, Anthony and Gerald K, both of McHenry; four grand­ children; one brother and six sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Visitation was scheduled after 3 p.m Tuesday in the George R. Justen & Son Funeral Home where funeral services will be led by the Rev. Roger Olson of Nativity Lutheran Church, Wonder Lake, at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery. * Memorials are requester to the American Cancer Society in care of Nor­ thwestern Hospital, Chicago. Elfine K. Hill, 84, of McHenry, died Thursday, April 19, at Crystal Pines Nursing Home, Crystal Lake. She was born Dec. 5, 1899, in Norway, the daughter of Albrgt and Anna (Eke) Albertson. Mrs. Hill had been a resident of the McHenry area about five years, having come from Florida. Surviving are her husband William C. Hill; a son Knute (Nellie) Ramberg of McHenry; one granddaughter Karyn Ramberg; and a sister Alberta Sorensen of Rolling Meadows, IL. Visitation was held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Peter M.
